Hyderabad to Vizag (Visakhapatnam) and Araku

Distance :750 kms

Drive :Swift (2)
Road :4 lane (except Vizag to Araku)

Fuel :Diesel

Mileage:17 kmpl

Toll:~700/- (one way)

Total Trip:~1600 kms

Hotel:Senora Vizag (beach view)

Route: Hyderabad ---> Suryapet ---> Vijayawada ---> Rajamundry ---> Vizag (Visakhapatnam) ---> Araku

It was a long weekend and the idea of a long drive struck my mind. We started to search for a destination under 500 kilometers from Hyderabad. Having found nothing which could grab our interest of a long drive, the road to Vizag popped-out into the discussion which we haven't revved-up until then.

After quite a long discussion over deciding the place, we finally decided to head towards the small port city of Vizag (Visakhapatnam). We started off early in the morning hitting the Hyderabad ORR which is arguably the best road in India and covered the first 60 kilometers in 30 minutes and bifurcated on to the Vijayawada highway near Ramoji film city.

Road condition from Hyderabad to Vizag (Visakhapatnam) is excellent thorough out with a 4 lane road where one can maintain a triple digit speed without any stress. We stopped by the '7' restaurant at Suryapet for breakfast. Food was delicious and the ambiance is any day better than the other restaurants on the highway.

After a refreshing break, we resumed our journey and headed towards Vijayawada. As we entered Vijayawada we got caught up in a chaotic traffic for an hour, but once we crossed the city limits, road was again flawless where we over-passed many rivers. The greenery of Konaseema was absolutely scenic which had absorbed all the driving fatigue. Our next stop was for the lunch in a village near Rajamundry. It took us around 12 hrs to reach Vizag from Hyderabad, which is around 650 kms.

We checked into the 'Hotel Senora' which had an amazing view of beach from the hill top. We crashed early for the night as we had carried quite a list to cover up for the next day.

Vizag Sight Seeing:

  • Ramakrishna Beach
  • Kailasagiri Hill Park
  • Submarine Museum
  • Yarada Beach (A must visit beach in Vizag)
  • Dolphin's Nose
  • Visakhapatnam Zoo
  • Bhimli Beach
  • Boating

@Ranger: how many days you took for this trip?

5 days are good enough to explore Vishakapatnam.

Winter is the right time to visit.

Would suggest the following plan.

Day 1
Hyderabad to Vishakapatnam

Stay in beach view resorts

Day 2

Explore places around Vishakapatnam from the given list.
Post lunch, drive to Yarada beach.

Day 3
Start early in the morning and drive to Aruku

Explore places en-route

Stay in AP Tourism

Day 4

Drive back to Vishakapatnam

Explore Borra caves en-route

Explore the places around Vishakapatnam

Day 5
Drive back to Hyderabad

If there is a time constraint. It can be done in 4 days.
You can also take flight/train and explore the places around vizag in zoomcar.

But nothing beat a good drive to the destination.
If you have any queries around Vizag you ask me.
I have visited Vizag numerous times.
:D

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
