It will be better, If you add up Aruku to your trip. Drive down to Aruku from Lambasingi.

If you are a Non-vegetarian don't miss 'Bongu Chicken' in those areas.:P

Don't expect great roads. But you will enjoy the drive for sure.

Adding up Aruku makes sense as it is around 100 kilometers.

I always wanted to visit Lambasingi. Heard temperatures will fall drastically in winter, some times as low as zero degress during December.

Hi all, I have done the Hyd to Maredumalli drive last year in September..

I have taken the route Hyderabad - Suryapet - Khammam - Bhadrachalam - Maredumalli (Vana vihar resort)..

It took me around 8 hours of drive with a breakfast break in between.. around 400 kms.

I think going Via Rajamundry will be a round about..

Lambasingi to Aruku is just a notch below 100 kilometers.

Have a safe trip.

In addition to Gowtham's points, I would like to add some important points which one should consider during his drive around this Quadrilateral which he had mentioned:

1) No proper signals for all connections other than BSNL and Idea at times around Maredumilli. So, keep your loved ones informed about your status and well being before hand.

2) Book your accommodation in prior as the very few resorts over there are always fully booked or reserved. Preference: Vana Vihar resort,

3) Ensure you are not alone when you go out as the place is almost deserted most of the time.

4) Ensure that your car is in perfect condition as you might fall short of mechanical help when needed in a deserted place like that.

5) No Fuel stations in this area at all.. One small station is available at a place called Rampachodavaram which is about 20 kms form Maredumalli.

Few queries Please.gif

1) Which would be the best route from Hyd?

2) Is Vana Vihar maintained well?

3) Any special permits required for this forest drive?

TIA :)

There are actually two ways to reach Maredumilli. One which gowtham mentioned i.e. via Rajamundry and the other which sharma mentioned i.e. via Bhadrachalam.

The one via Rajamundry is longer by 80 kms, but most of the road is a 4-lane track which takes almost the same time. Also, you avoid the bad ghat road between Chinturu and Maredumilli (Via Badhrachalam).

The road between Kammam and Hyderabad is flawless, after that roads are not bad but, some parts of that stretch are narrow having patch work and potholes. But overall, the drive between Badrachalam to Maredumilli was not bad but not super good.

Balakrishna, You don't need any permissions as such to drive around in the forest area.

Let me give you a bit of info I know about the resorts over there..

1. Vana Vihar is the best option available in the region.

2. Amma Residency is not the best but you can choose this if 'Vana Vihar' is full.

3. Birds Nest is another good option but a 20 km away from Maredumilli in Rampachodavaram.

I would suggest via Bhadrachalam [have done this in both ways]. The entire beauty of drive to Maredumilli lies between Bhadrachalam to Maredumilli route. If you skip this part, you will miss the beautiful ghat section and lot of scenic places.

Hyd to Suryapet is flawless.

Suryapet to Khammam is very good 2 lane road except 1-2 kms bad patches

Khammam to Bhadrachalam - there are two roads, don't go by main road/main high way. Go via Illandu - You will fall in love with this road, again 3-4 kms bad patch road

Bhadrachalam to Maredumilli - Good 2 lane road. Some bad patches here and there but you can easily cruise at 50kmph through those scenic roads. You won't have second thought about this road.
The other way is, Hyd to Vijayawada is nothing to complain - 4 lane road

Vijayawada traffic you will hate it for sure

Vijaywada to Rajamundry is 4 lane road with lot of traffic and 4-5kms of too bumpy/unexpected bumps on road

Rajamundry to Maredumilli is ok ok road. It's neat tarmac road, but not greatly laid out. You won't be able to push beyond 50kmph and yes it has good enough view points, but not worthy compared to route 1
Long time @nitin88, Totally lost in touch after getting wedded..

I’ve done this stretch yesterday,

Roads are good as always.. but, it seemed a little crowded when compared to my trip last year ☹️

That's awesome. Have you thought of doing any new one's offlate?

I felt like almost done exploring southern india :P

Not finding clean roads with no traffic. Want to do spirited drives and I remember this place and forest road used to be very good.

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
