Due to some unavoidable works on thursday couldn't go for that planned Hampi Trip.

After we finished our voting on friday we were free till sunday. so decided to visit some place which is around 200 Km. We have been wanting to see the Nagarjuna Sagar dam lights at night.

So we started from Hyderabad, Miyapur Around 12:30. Roads were clean and the crowds at Polling booth was moderate and well managed by Telangana State Police Dept.

Road to Nagarjuna Sagar is pretty good after crossing Outer ring road the drive was very smooth and peaceful, stopped at MASQATI ICE CREAM PARLOUR (Path to sub-canal, Ghanpur) for a Ice-cream break. Reached the Sri Parvata Arama (Upcoming Buddhist site, not yet open) near Hotel Siddharta.

Saw the sculptures and stupas near the entrance, feeded some cute monkeys. Left for dam site and reached around 5:00 PM, enjoyed the evening breeze and the sunset at the bridge and later went to the broken old bridge.

Day:2

Stayed at vijay vihar, we started around 8:30 am to the Ap Tourism boating point. (Launching station)

We skipped the telangana boating point, as we want to drive some place in the morning, the drive was good, with some ghat road driving fun.

Took the tickets for boat & museum at the launching station. After a 45 min of Boat travel we reached the nagarjuna sagar island around 11:30 am. weather is hot and humid even in december.

Spent some good amount of time seeing the exhibits and sculptures, we came out to the garden area, stated walking around the path to explore the monuments. the place is huge and maintained well with preserving old trees.

Saw few ruined sculptures, old monuments and a big old well. came back around 3 pm to boating point and waited for our boat to start as we had to checkout by 4 pm. Reached the resort and had a late lunch and checked out.

While returning to hyderabad saw a hilltop temple near Mallepally. (Arthagiri Shathram Malella Gattu) Sri Venkateshwara Temple.

Climbed the steps and reached the temple. also there is motorable road to reach the top available, we decide to climb since the view is good in the evening. had darshan at temple and spent some peaceful moments enjoying the nature and watching monkeys playing around. Left the temple around 6 started the drive back to hyderabad and reached home by 8:30 pm.

it was a fun trip, short though :) Thanks!

A weekend definitely not wasted though your Hampi trip got cancelled. Nagarjuna sagar drive is anytime a peaceful destination to do on a short weekend from Hyderabad.

@sagarIt looks like a buddhist Vihara to me, and it's still in construction, and not yet open to public. But from outside we can see a huge meditation hall/stupas and the sculptures around the wall are so beautiful, most of the are relief panels. The location is right after Hotel Sidhartha and just before Vijay Vihar. Check out the pic below, similar characters i saw in the Gallery exhibits at the island museum too....sanga nidhi and padmanidhi holding gold coins in hands short hobbit like figures. I am sure once it's opened it will be a visual treat.

Very nicely composed report.

Swift in red looks fantastic.

How is the stay?
How much does it cost per night?

@RangerThanks :)Location of the resort is very good, as we get lake view in most of the rooms. and the garden area is so beautiful filled with buddha sculptures. Stay was ok, since its a govt run property service is slow, and the furnitures are quite old, and bed was hard. we can manage for a day. 2700 INR per night, included breakfast with very limited options, we ended up having lunch here as well, lunch was ok around 135/ INR per person. we didn't like the breakfast, but lunch was good.
