Thanks Much @sagar

Actually I already seen this is very old post I mean 2015 information things might change now. That's why I posted recently has anyone visited Hampi in this forum.

Thank You!

I have been there last month too.. Stayed at Hospet in Hampi International hotel which was very good at it's budget..

Nothing has changed over there except for the road conditions which were in it's worst conditions after Raichur. 1 and a half days is what you would require to cover every bit of Hampi. And if you would want to cover the places around.. you have Thanda (reservoirs of tungabadra) near to Steel Plant and also Tungabadra dam is a good choice to visit. Including travel... 3 days would be a hurry trip and 4 days would be a leisure one :)

Hi everyone planning for Hampi trip this weekend with family. Any suggestions on economical but good hotels near Hampi and which is the route best to take at this time. I see there was trip done a week or 2 back by India Drive. Suggestions will be helpful. TIA

Roads leading to Hampi are in bad shape. (both Via kurnool and Raichur)

Hotels are expensive in December (Hampi peak season).

Take the following route:

Hyderabad --> Kurnool --> Alur --> Bellari --> Hampi

Don't take Raichur road.
It is under construction.

We stayed in Clarks inn Hampi, It is decent.

Hey @Mack,  as told by ranger, the below is the best route from the 2 options you have.

 Hyderabad --> Kurnool --> Alur --> Bellari --> Hampi

This route is a little longer by about 50 kms but takes the same drive time. Roads between Alur - Bellari has got a few short bad stretches but it's still better than the route via Raichur.

Accommodations in Hampi at the moment are very high compared to the usual time due to peak tourist month. You would get a decent hotel during this month if you can shell out 3000 to 3500 INR per night.

Royal Orchid Kireeti and Clarks Inn are decent options which you can count on in Hampi.

Hyderabad-Bellary-Hampi latest update:

While going, took Hyderabad-Kurnool-Alur-Bellary route.

Take this route only if you HATE your car.

There is almost no road for almost 60 kms on this stretch be it SH or NH.

While coming back, took Bellary-Guntakal-Gooty-Kurnool-Hyderabad route.

Not the perfect route but much much better than the Kurnool-Alur route.

Ignore the Kurnool-Alur route suggested by Google/Apple maps or you will regret later.

Word of caution - lot of speed breakers on both the routes without any markings. Be careful.

      Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

      After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

      Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

      We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

      Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
      Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

      Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
