Hi everyone... I'm planning a road trip from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad. Pls provide inputs such as preferred route, road conditions and stoppages. Thnks

Welcome to india-Drive Adisum.

You need to stick to NH
Vizag --> Rajahmundry --> Eluru --> Vijayawada --> Suryapet --> Hyderabad

Entire section is  a 4-lane toll road.

There are around 10 tolls and it will cost you around 650/-

Vizag to Eluru : Road condition is not so great, you may come across potholes drive cautiously.

Eluru to Vijayawada : Road condition is good, but lot of traffic.

Vijayawada to Hyderabad : Road condition is excellent, one of the best road in the country.

Regarding food stop overs, at what time you are planning to start?

I'm planning to start early in the morning to make it comfortably in Hyderabad by evening.

Early morning is the ideal for this drive.

Breakfast stop: One food courts Annavaram

Lunch stop: Vijayawada
You can find multiple options at Vijayawada.
If you are looking for some place close to highway, you can try
Cross roads Hotel

Optional break : Suryapet
7 food court, excellent washrooms.

Hyderabad outskirts:
Village Aharam, ideal for tea/coffee break.

I tried both the roads, somehow felt that via City it was faster.
I have used IRR, may be I missed few turns.
IRR is fast abd under 30mins you can cross. unless you hit a bad truck traffic on the flyover.
Based on the feedback, the best fuel points in Vijayawada are Chennupati bunk on the bunder road near Taj gateway hotel.
and One on Autonagar. If you pass near by you can fill it. There are few big petrol stations before Inrahimpatnam and after crossing Nidamanur on the Eluru highway

Thanks to all for the inputs...Is it possible to complete the travel within 12 hours with 2/3 food breaks included?

I would recommend you to start off by 4 AM or at least by 5 AM.. You would reach Hyderabad by 7 PM including a breakfast, Lunch and  a Tea break in between :)

Vijayawada, temple road is now open for cars

This is a good news in either case irrespective of deciding on the route to take between IRR / regular route. At least this move will ease the traffic on both the routes and kind of divides the traffic in to two routes instead of creating congestion on one road. Most of the times people try and take regular route at least to see what has changed in that route (After all we are all humans :D)

haha

For people travelling towards Guntur/Chennai, going via temple makes sense, instead of taking IRR.

Hi guys completed the drive from vizag to Hyderabad took around 12 hours complete with two stops. The roads were good/very good except the patch of about 60 km before Eluru. Needless to say roads between Vijayawada to Hyderabad are in excellent shape.

Thanks a lot for updating us back on the road conditions @adisum . Where have you stopped in between for breaks .. ? Was there rainfall during your drive... ?

Recently one of my friend had experienced a lot of Hydroplaning during his drive in rain on the Hyderabad-Vjw stretch. Let's all be cautious during our drive in rains especially on these highways where we run at high speeds..

My first break was just a regular roadside break between short of Rajmundhry. Thereafter, on the Vijayawada and Hyderabad Expressway at a restaurant called Rajugaari Thota (amazing food, ambience and restrooms). Also der wer a few spells of drizzle but nothing too bothering

Thank you for the update.

Roads are bad around Rajahmundry. Too many potholes for a toll road.

Roads are safe, no checking related to COVID.

Hi Sravan, There are absolutely no restrictions if you are entering into Telangana. You can do your drive pretty comfortably. It is definitely safe to travel by road between this stretch but if you are planning to do this during the day time, it will be more safe when compared to the night drive that you have planned.

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
