Planning a road trip from Hyderabad to Coorg

Hi All,

I am planning a road trip from Hyderabad to Coorg in October for a week starting from Hyderabad

Places:

Mysore, Bandipur, Nagarhole, Kabini

Can someone help me with the Do's and Dont's and any other places which can be covered on the way.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Traveller, Welcome to the club..

Looks like you are planning on targeting a forest drive altogether. How many days trip are you looking at to plan this trip.. ? Can suggest accordingly as there are too many places in and around every place. :)

We are planning from October 14-21 around 8 days, yea just realised that it will be a forest drive

8 days is more than enough for Coorg.

Day1
Hyderabad to Mysuru

Start early in the morning from Hyderabad and visit Mysuru Palace in the evening.

Apart from Palace there is nothing much to do in Mysuru, Unless you are interested in parks.

Day 2

Bandipur forest safari.

Make sure you reach this place little early in the morning.

It is crowded during weekends.

Would suggest you to avoid stay in Bandipur.

Instead drive down to Kabini.

Day 3

Stay/Safari at Kabini

Day 4/5

Drive to Coorg

Local exploration, copied Sagar post.(Bold, must visit)

Quote

Will share you a list of places to visit in Coorg as per my knowledge.

1) Dubare Elephant Camp

2) Chikliholey Dam

3) Nisargdama National park

4) Namdroling Monastery

5) Arangi Dam

6) Abbey Falls

7) Raja Seat

? Mandalpatti

9) Iruppu falls

10) Many tea and Coffee estates

Day 6

Drive to Muzhappilangad Drive in Beach.(You can drive your car on the beach)

Stay at Mangalore

Day 7

Visit places around Mangalore.

Drive down to Bangalore.

Day 8

Drive to Hyderabad.

I'm also thinking of Nov last week for a Coorg trip.

For forest safari which is better Bandipur or Kabini (as you mentioned both the places, former being over crowded)?

Hi @manub22, Both are decent options to have on your list... I would recommend you to do the safari in Bandipur and stay in a forest guesthouse in Kabini. But, make sure you reach out to the safari ticker counter well before time at Bandipur :)

Better to book online in advance...for the safari...during holidays it's crowded...

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
