Hyderabad City road updates

Hi All,

I have created this post so that members can share the road updates like

  • Road blockages
  • Road diversions
  • Water-logging
  • Alternative routes
  • Shorter routes
  • Less traffic routes
  • Fun to drive routes(don't tell Hyderabad ORR ?)
  • Scenic routes

Since lemon tree signal is closed, Initially I felt it is a chaos.

But now the drive through lemon tree signal is breeze, what do you guys say?

Nice initiative.

Closing U-turns made the traffic flow smooth.
But that is not the permanent solution.

My office commute distance increased by around two kilometres in the past one year.
Reason? Closure of U-turns.

Even if they complete metro construction, I highly doubt they will open those u-turns.

Mainly traffic police has less work to do. ?

Can anyone understand about the flyover construction at Bio-Diversity signal.

I'm still not able to understand the flow.

GHMC expects to complete the construction of Level-1 flyover at Biodiversity Junction by March 2019, but it looks unlikely to meet the target going by the land acquisitions it has made till date. Not even one property has been acquired in past two years for the flyover project.

This proposed flyover will cater to the traffic moving from Gachibowli towards Khajaguda, allowing commuters to bypass Biodiversity Junction from overhead, reducing the volume of vehicles at major crossroad relatively low.

Level-1 is part of the multi-level flyover to be built as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).

The Level-1 flyover will extend between Care Hospital and Pakwan Grand Hotel. It is designed to be a unidirectional flyover which caters to traffic only on the left side of the road. A good 215-foot wide space will need to be acquired for the Right of Way (ROW) for the flyover.

It is a multi-level flyover.

Level-1

Fly over from Gachibowli to Kajaguda

It is unidirectional, i.e people driving from Gachibowli to Kajaguda can only take that flyover.

People driving from Kajaguda to Gachibowli cannot take it.

No idea about Level-2

This is a good one but road updates keep changing  looking the current development in and around office spaces..

All the routes that we have been taking towards office (Mindspace.Cyber Gateway,Hi tech) have increased by around 2 to 3 km due to the diversions in place..

But personally I am really excited to see how the entire development would look like after couple of years once all the flyovers, metro, underpass are in place..

On other hand we can expect huge increase in traffic once IKEA opens up and then the Myhome office hub near bio diversity, the residential space on the same road..

I'm sure it will turn change the traffic scenario entirely.

It will turn into another forum mall junction.

Lemon tree signal closure looks helpful, first two days it was a mess.

Now things are much better, flow is smooth.

Great initiative @RajG. Rainy season being ahead in time, This platform would be lovely to share all the road blockages and water clogging or traffic updates. Very helpful one.

And this is something new that I'm getting to know about the flyover being a multi-level built. Is the first of it's kind in India or any other city already inherits this ?

I have seen such layouts abroad but not in India :O

.. but if multilevel flyovers come up here then ah it would like a breath of fresh air.. it would be awesome wouldn't it :) ..

Greenery should be kept intact or we should be trying out something like green flyovers/hanging gardens..

We do have some exceptional flyovers in Chennai

In fact there are many actually in India in this cloverleaf Interchanging flyovers..3 being in chennai (Kathipara,Koyembedu and Madurvoyal)

KTR never responded to my tweet :P but my travel from home (Quthbullapur) to Office (Cyber Gateway) has become very easy! I have been observing it for last 1 week and it never took me over 35 minutes to reach office on my Enfield. Newly laid Balanagar road reminded me of the same road few years back when we hardly used brakes in the stretch, however with lot of increase in traffic though! I never felt bad that I did not get a response on my tweet as long as the roads are laid and traffic flow has been taken care. Waiting for the Balanagar Fly over to get completed and this stretch will be breeze!

BTW I stopped taking the Fly over @Hitech / Cyber Towers after U turns are closed, instead I am taking Izzat Nagar route (Right turn at Hyundai after Hitech MMTS) and coming through Hitex, then immediate Left and getting in to Tech Mahindra road and then proceeding towards Dell X road and reach my office on the Left (Deloitte A-D Blocks) This is saving me a lot of time! I tried taking the same route in my car as well and reached office in about 45 mins (same route).

With metro construction,  roads are changing completely over night.
Small blockages are causing huge jams.

But compared to Cities like Bangalore, We are in much better shape.

I feel roads in Hyderabad are much wider than any other City(leaving Delhi)

Best example, this morning just after Rainbow Vistas!! there is a small little narrow stretch as soon as you cross Rainbow Vistas when you are coming towards Hitech, they closed onr side of it for road widening leaving chaos this morning on that little stretch!! Took about 25 mins for 2 wheelers to come out of it

completely agree.. I feel the planning is much better in hyderabad compared to chennai and blore ..

Traffic is something that a person living in a city can not escape from but i feel hyderabad traffic is much much better and on other hand the traffic sense is much much worse..

Hanging bridge, shared by Vinit

Quote

By March 2019, Hyderabad will be having the India’s largest Cable bridge as the Durgam Cheruvu Cable bridge work is progressing swiftly. The 144-metre cable bridge in the Baruch district of Gujarat is currently the largest.

The construction of the 754.38 metre bridge has been taken up at a cost of Rs 184 crores. About 13 foundations have been opened and construction of 12 pillars has been completed.

With the completion of the bridge, the traffic from Madhapur and Jubilee Hills would be seamless and it is set to become a great tourist destination, as it is known to be the first Hyderabad hanging bridge with colorful power outages.

The first segment re-infrastructure tasks in the main bridge are in progress. Stay cables were specially brought from Austria. While bridge builder works and track beam fabrication works are in progress, the cable bridge precast works are going on in Kondapur, according to the GHMC commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy who said, “The main bridges with a length of 25 meters are 6.5 meters high in pre-casting construction in Kondapur”

I think this is just a connectivity across the Durgam cheruvu ... from Inorbit mall junction over the cheruvu towards the other side where olive bistro is ... something like a bridge ..

Oh.. That's what happens when you missed out these announcements. I struggled that night while coming via Hitech 100 ft road crossing -> Hi tech crossing - Hitex - Kondapur. It was around 12 at the night. I was shocked to see such huge traffic at that time. Now I realized what for it was!! Thanks @Ranger for updating us. Its a different matter altogether, that I missed it. ?

i read in some news paper..during metro construction,
Metro is responsible for the road below it. They should take care of road.

Is it really true?

Yes is is true ... at Miyapur all the cleaning is done by the metro folks ... same should be followed everywhere where metro construction happens.

All us hyderabadis need to be more and more patient with these monsoon showers in the city..

All the roads towards secunderbad side and towards IT corridor (gachibowli and hi-tech) will be filled with potholes and two wheelers and 4 wheelers and every journey would be a nightmare..

But we need to keep telling ourselves that the infra is developing and hope to see the best in coming years and just calm down :) ..

If possible all of us should lend a hand to the traffic cop at the junction and help them to control the traffic.

Lets educate more and more people on the importance of lane rules and overtaking from the right.

Let us be calm and spread calmness across ..

All the best for the month of July and August :)

I feel, the Govt. is doing a great work in showing progress of laying new roads all over the city with it's new methods. I have observed the low lying lands are being worked up on with a huge concrete road which follows a black topping road over it. A double layered one as well as best to maintain if the black topping is gone after every monsoon. :) What do you guys think so on this?

Totally agree .. most of the times the black layer goes off and we see potholes ... double layering would serve the purpose but the costs would go too high and all of us do not like more taxes ☝️

We are already being looted in terms of taxes.. I hoping that it wouldn't go any higher than this :) .. But still  you never know ? :D

Today it took me 1 hours + to cover 8 kilometres.

I came across number of problems like increase in pothole count, water logging, metro, fly over construction...list is endless.

Traffic is already a mess.

I think we should be prepared for the next one month.

My office commute increased from 20 minutes to 40 minutes.

People already started asking "Ivanka trump" to visit Hyderabad.

But the roads are in much better shape compared to last year!

Yesterday, I have bagged my record time... Drove 90 mins for just 1 km. For the first time I felt I should have bought an Automatic transmission :D

Ironically i just took 45 min against the usual 90 min from tellapur to mindspace by car and during my usual time..

and yes till september with so many diversions and construction work traffic will be a huge pain ..

Over the weekend i spent close to 14 hours in traffic.. Nallagandla->Nallakunta->Nallagandla->Sangareddy->Nallakunta->Tellapur->Secbad..

i was so exhausted and tired man ..

The bio diversity junction work needs to be completed asap ..that is a huge huge bottleneck ..

With the current trend a small auto hatch is a must for the city commute.

For someone like me coming from Balanagar, Hitech MMTS is a huge headache every morning! Somehow there is no alternative to this but I wanted to see if something happens around this stretch too! Personally, I feel a lot better driving in this stretch these days! not sure if the diversions / better roads helped but My office (Deloitte Drive) to home (Quthbullapur) is now far far better than last year. Fortunately, Balanagar signal is similar to Kondapur and Bio Diversity but we have an alternate route to skip this signal and join the main road towards Y junction.

Not sure about permanently closed but will be closed until Metro work is over (can take anywhere between 6-12 months my guess)

New trend is to close the traffic signals and create u-turns.

It is happening across the country(Metro cities).

I highly doubt they will open it after the metro work.

My Home-Office commute used to be 9 kilometres, now it increased to 11 kilometres because of closed signals and u-turns.

Drive time is still same.

I have observed traffic is being streamlined with this move! Specially I have observed the JNTU signal before and after this change!! What a mess it was before, it is far better now! But I feel Lane separators need to be installed wherever they are doing this. Have seen so many Idiots who want to head straight using the extreme Right lane until they approach U turn and then proceed towards Left all of a sudden, increasing the number of vehicles who actually want to take a U turn driving on the Right just because of these Idiots and then coming towards Right causing a X blockage! I have been going through this issue at the Y junction everyday where I am supposed to take U turn almost immediately after taking one U turn at the Y junction to come back to the road towards IDL lake! All the vehicles coming from Kukatpally will continue on extreme Right and for someone like me coming from Balanagar and proceed towards IDL lake, need to make immediate move towards extreme Right from extreme Left causing serious blockage at this junction! I feel the U turn have to be moved a little forward towards KP Bus Depot

JNTU singnal was mess from way back(2007)

I shudder to imagine the traffic in 2018, If they did not close the signal.

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.
