Fantastic experience on this weekend trip to Srisailam hill station Nallamala Forest.

Road conditions is pretty good, ghat roads are fun to drive with excellent curves.

While driving on Nallamala forest, we spotted many monkeys, peacocks and dears etc.

A wonderful wild life experience.

Some sections are fantastic, covered with bamboo trees on the both sides of the road.

This is my first ghat experience and we had a great drive.

Traffic is less compared to other highways around Hyderabad.

We maintained around 80km/hr speeds in flat section and Ghat section speed varied from 30km/hr to 70km/hr

Adding few pictures:

Would suggest you to visit this place during monsoon.(When the dam gates are opened).
Views and greenery are fantastic.

How may hours did you take from Hyderabad to Srisailam?
Did you stay in any hotel or drove back on the same day?

Hi Ranger,

expecting question from you :)

Yes, your right it's a lesson learned for me on this summer season visit, place is dry, no greenery around with no water in dam also.

my suggestion :
Best time to visit is monsoon, you can enjoy the greenery and climate.

it's a one day trip generally, start at early morning via Hyderabad ORR then Kalwakurthy, Srisailam forest.
Road condition is good.

Ghat roads are fun to drive.

We started from Shamirpet, total kilometers: 260km, total time : 5hrs
With few small breaks.

Thank you for this information @Vikram_i10 I will be doing this stretch this weekend. I hope road condition from Hyderabad all the way until Srisailam is as good as it was couple of months back! I shall keep the group posted with my drive details once I finish this trip, mine would be a hectic schedule, Planning to do Hyderabad - Saleswaram Temple (This temple opens only for 3-4 days in year & includes about 2-3 kilometers trek to reach the place). Planning to start about 3am this Friday and return by Saturday afternoon around 3pm.

Planning to do Hyderabad - Saleswaram Temple

I have visited Saleshwaram temple few years back.
Please, plan your trip carefully.

Also it is better to avoid the drive with family and kids.
Path is little risky at some points.
It may be over crowded during weekends.

We have started at 5PM from Hyderabad and reached Saleshwaram parking at 8PM.
Trek took us around 2~3 hours one way.
We diverted to many unkown paths and explored into forest.
Once we reach near the temple, path will get tricky.
People push each other and can get risky.

  • Saleshwaram should be done only during night time(temperatures are very high during day time)
  • Carry enough water and food
  • Shoes are must, avoid slippers.
  • You will have designated car parking, so no need to worry about parking.
  • Carry spare clothes
  • Trek(hike) level is easy but time taking

Le me know, If you have any queries.

Thank you very much Gowtham, do you remember until where we can drive? Will my Tia be able to do it peacefully? We are planning to start at about 3am Saturday morning and return by about 3/4 pm. I am not going with family and kids but with cousins. Looks like we will have tough time returning back on the trek, but we do not have choice now. Thank you very much for the tips and pointers. Will share my trip details once I complete it next week.

We took a right turn after crossing tiger safari entry.

Around 10 minutes drive after the diversion.

We did this place in 2011.

You can check the cops at the check-post.

We drove in Swift, won't be an issue for Tiago except for dust.

Temperatures are high during the day time, people usually start the trek during the sunset.

But you can click some pictures of the beautiful locations.

Plan is definitely on but there is very less information about this place and experiences. I will try and capture as much information as possible, that's the plan! Let's see how this goes

One of my main motto of keeping this trek day time

And looks like I will have a little change in plan, might start late evening tomorrow about 10pm. @Ranger Is the trek / temple open round the clock? Any suggestions on time to start if the plan is to start late in the evening tomorrow? My plan is to start about 10pm and reach around 1am and then start trekking if it is allowed or to take a quick nap in the car until 3am and start the trek. Wanted to know if it is round the clock trek!

Would surely miss out on the photographs of the place overnight which was the actual plan earlier but looks like I am going to miss that now

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
