Thanks for sharing this post Gowtham. This is very helpful for us to go on a short drive from our hectic weekdays.

There are few forts like Bhongir, Rachakonda, Devarakonda near Nalgonda which are below 150kms I guess. And also Medak fort. Are these forts worth visiting? I think there are many forts near nalgonda, mahabubnagar, nizamabad.

Jaffargadd fort is in Warangal..
There are two routes to reach the place.
1. Route 1 is Warangal Highway - station ganpur - take right and need to touch Suryapet Vijayawada highway
2. Route 2 is Vijayawada highway and we need to take left towards station ganpur..
Road is under repair for 4 lane extension. However its not too bad road. :)
The fort is very less explored place to anybody.
It's so vast in my opinion.
There is temple in the fort which needs a trek to reach it. You can google about the place..

Superb information @etoor . I keep visiting Warangal quite frequently but haven't of this place anytime. Thanks a lot for throwing some light on such an unexplored place. Can you share the pictures if you have any?

Think it will be the onset of Rainy season N good rains to enjoy, Nagarjuna Sagar, Kuntala Waterfalls, Srisailam

Most of the locations in India are best to explore during monsoon and winter.

Hyderabad has geographical disadvantage. We need to travel at least 600+ kilometers for a proper hill station.

Hey @Ranger got to identify another quick getaway from Hyderabad near Jadcherla. This place is known as "The Mayuri Forest Park / Mayuri Ecopark". This place is perfect for adventure seeking folks who love Camping / Star Gazing. No specific accommodation except camping here but a lot of adventure activities. One of my friend has gone there with an adventure club for trekking last weekend and the place looks cool with some Snakes spotting. Attaching few pictures borrowed from him.

I am trying to get more information on local contact person at this place if a group want to go there, last weekend a group of 20 folks (Including a couple of my friends) have been here for via an adventure club in Hyderabad and paid ~700INR per head (Note: To the group organizers not Mayuri Eco Park) and were provided with Entry, Activities, Dinner and Breakfast. Heard Night trek is more fun than a day one here!! They found both Snakes while doing Night Trek only!

Will add few more pics of the Night Trek and their Tents as soon as I get it. Hope this information helps our adventure seeking / Star Gazing loving members a little away from Vikarabad!! :)

I think it is better to avoid this place during summer?

Hyderabad: In its attempt to make people aware of the scenic beauties and hidden tourist hotspots, the State Forest Department on Friday introduced special eco-tourism packages in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, a press release said.

The Forest Department has come out with three packages for nature lovers in order to showcase places like Eturunagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, Laknavaram lake, Bogatha Waterfalls, Sammakka Saralamma Jatara area, Kaleshwaram temple and Prathapagiri Kota in the district.
The special package of Rs 2,000 per tourist will cover tourist attractions like cycling, trekking, primitive human caves, blackberry island, Kondaveeti view point along with food and guide facilities.

Another package worth Rs 2,000 offers facilities like stay in a tent, camp fire, boating, island visit, trekking, journey on a bullock cart and even a lake view safari.

Keeping in mind the need of adventure seekers, Forest officials are also offering rock climbing, rappelling, trekking and bouldering activities, as part of the third package.

Kohir hills is another place I've heard of around Hyderabad which is unexplored. Please share a link if there is any in this forum. TIA

Do check out the links below. Kohir hills and Gottamgutta are a few places where you can drive to for an early morning exploration drive. Absollutely less crowded or not crowded at all. Try not to grab much attention at the villagers you pass by as it might lead to some chaos or unnecessary disturbances.

No dropped the plan for this weekend.

I may drive down to Gandikota, but due to high temperatures, I avoided the drive.
May be after the festival, i will drive down.

Last weekend (sat and yesterday) went to Dandeli and did river rafting , zip line , kayaking etc in river Kali.
I went with a team on train/bus.
Everyone has amazing experience with these water sports. You can also do forest safari. But it's not that popular .
Any one can easily visit this place when you drive to Goa. Otherwise it's a good weekend destination drive to rejoice yourself....

We stayed in a farmhouse - tents...food is also good...

Distance :

172 Kilometres to Jurala Project. Approx

Route :

Hyderabad --> Jadcherla --> Beechupalli ---> Gadwal---->Jurala project ----Atmakur-----Hyderabad

Road condition :

Excellent

Restaurants :

You can find many on Bangalore highway but once you divert, you cannot find anything.

Recently went a day trip to Jurala project and afterwards to Beechupally Hanuman temple located nearby river, makes an excellent scenic location. especially in the evenings. Sharing some pics.

Nothing much to do in Jurala project except driving down the village roads and enjoying the scenery at the waterfront. But the drive is worth it. beware of the monkeys at Hanuman temple, after all its their area :)

Even though it is a late reply.
Due to COVID, complete camping setup is removed and many new resorts are coming up in Gandikota.

    • Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden paradise, Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.
