Fantastic video.

Happy to be the part of the trip.

Once in a lifetime memory.

Excellent co-ordination between cars and good set of drivers made the drive memorable.

Getting stuck in snow and recovery process was the best part.

It was a pleasure watching the video. Did you guys plan till Spiti or Initial planning was till Chitkul?

Our initial plan was to do the Spiti winter drive but, our failure in finding the snow chains in Delhi and the zip tags that we carried from Hyderabad failed at Chitkul and this made us realise that doing spiti with the minimum equipment we had would become impossible. Hence we dropped out from doing Spiti and drove back from Chitkul. :D

Very nice video Sagar & Ranger.

I wish I could drive some day in these terrains,

I must upgrade my ETIOs to some SUVs (FORD ECO SPORT or higher segments like DUSTER,CRETA etc) to drive such stretches.

What route you guys follow from Hyderabad to CHITKUL ?

The google map says

HYDERABAD-NAGPUR-JHANSI-DELHI-CHANDIGARH-SIMLA-CHITKUL (HIMACHAL PRADESH).

All the way till CHITKUL , the road condition is good ?

It is possible to drive to CHITKUL by ETIOS .

Till CHITKUL , I can see road but from CHITKUL to CHANSAL is there any TAR ROAD.

I see only mud road no tar at all .

In google map I see CHANSAL PASS is before CHITKUL .

Hyderabad to Chitkul plan:

Hyderabad - Nagpur - Sagar (Night stay)

Sagar - Agra - Delhi (Night Stay)

Delhi - Chandigarh - Shimla - Narkanda (Night Stay)

Narkanda - Karcham - Chitkul

Bad road stretches in this circuit: (Avg. speed 60 kmph)

Nagpur - Seoni - Narsingpur

Sagar - Lalitpur

Gaziabad

Traffic zones at the Delhi Chandighar Toll, Shimla town and Rampur town on the way towards Karcham Dam

Chitkul is very much possible to do on Etios except during winters. Just make sure you don't do Spiti in Etios during any season :)

You can either do Chanshal Pass on your way from Narkanda as it needs a diversion before entering Rampur. I would recommend you to stay back at Rampur as it has decent accommodation options as it gets dark by the time you return from Chanshal Pass.

Or

After exploring Chitkul and on you drive back towards Narkanda, you can drive down to Chanshal pass after crossing Rampur.

The road towards Chanshal pass is steep and there is Tar until you climb 60% closer towards it and we passed through many villages in between and mud roads also. Few land slides ate up the time and the weather got darker and the road had snow by the time we got closer. Couldn't risk it further thinking about our drive back in light before sun sets completely. Haven't reached the Zenith point of this pass during that time but we covered 80% of this road. Regret of leaving it unexplored now but yes, our 2X4 were also a reason.
