We wish to enjoy the monsoon rains and want to disconnect from this city busy life and pressures. Want to explore some forest & greenery places and some time for devotional places as well. We decided to visit "NallaMalla Jungle Camp - Pacherla" and booked accommodation through its website (http://nallamalaijunglecamps.com)

Car : Fiat Punto 90HP

Places Visited : Nalla Malla Jungle Camp, Srisailam

Route Taken : Miryalaguda - Nagarjuna Sagar - Macherla -  Nalla Malla Jungle Camp - Srisailam - Dindi - Miryalaguda

Distance : 700kms (Round Trip - approx)

We booked our accommodation and started from Miryalaguda on Aug 25th - 5AM.

Reached Nagarjuna Sagar dam by 6am, took some pics on the dam and enjoyed the cool climate.

From Nagarjuna Sagar, we reached Macherla and visited "chennakesava swamy temple" and headed to "Forest Camps" via "giddalur".

The road condition was really good and it went through some forest areas which provides pleasant driving feel.

We took the road towards "Nandyal" from "Giddalur" and travelled for about 35kms to reach "Forest Camp".

This 35kms road is driver's paradise with full of mountains and ghat sections. It was raining heavily when we visited and added more beauty to the place.

The real fun of driving starts here with this road and its curves ... xD

This 35kms road condition was pretty awesome with no pot holes and full of tress on both sides.

Here are small videos of road condition

After 4 hours of journey, we finally reached our destination :DIMG_6125.JPG.f1d0a6d146060a60f3b06b856356a98b.JPG

The accommodation provided was pretty clean with all facilities. They welcomed us with hot tea (welcome drink) as the climate is damm cool.

I will follow your plan on some weekend.

Never expected Nallamalla forest to be this beautiful.

Your information is very helpful for the first timers. Thank you sharing the details.

How is the overall road condition?
Any bad stretch in the whole circuit?

Road condition is good all the way. No bad stretch at all.

Driving Punto on those roads will be a drivers dream.

Pricing looks economical.
Any animal spotting in Safari?

You can spot peacocks, deer and lots & lots of monkeys. Therez a pond in forest where all the animals comes for drinking water, jungle safari guys will take you there. There you might get a chance to spot bears or tigers.

Spotting tiger and bear is very tough in Nallamalla.
According the report from 2016

Quote

The NSTR (Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve) is spread in 5,937 km out of which 3,737 km is in Andhra Pradesh. The Nallamala forest is spread in Kurnool, Prakasam, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda districts. The core area of tiger is 2,444 km, the officials said. There are 2200 tigers in the country out of which 68 tigers are found in Nallamala forest.

It is almost like one in 100 kilometer radius.

We can spot many deer and monkeys on the highways itself.
Especially, If you drive early/late in Nallamalla you can spot many deer.

Few more questions :D, how much time does the Safari last.
Is the Safari limited to accommodation? Outsiders can book only Safari?

They will take safari to two different places and each last for around 2hrs. For outsiders, they will charge Rs.1000/- ( i don't know exactly).

I went to Pacherla last weekend. The route taken is ORR Entrance -> Jadcherla -> Kurnool -> Orvakal -> Nandyal (Ayyalur) -> Gajulapalli -> Pacherla

This is the best and fastest route. Bangalore highway till Kurnool super good. Then we get onto the newly laid Rayalaseema Expressway (Kurnool Ongole Main Road it's called) which is 4-lane for 60kms with few diversion in between.

10kms before Nandyal the roads are bad. This stretch of 15kms is very bad. Again the last 20 odd kms through the jungle is really smooth 2 lane road.

Hope this helps and let us know your experience of visiting Pacherla

There are two Jungle repsorts. One is in Pacherla and other one is Bairluty. I am planning to travel to first Pacherla and second to Bairluty. Google is not giving specific route for Pacherla although providing directions for Bairluty.

Varun, thanks for providing direction for Pacherla, can you pin it on google map so that I can easilty identify it.

Did anyone really spot tiger during safari?

Does Nallamalla forest have any tigers left?

I went to Tiger safari 3 times en-route to Srisailam, never spotted a tiger even once.

I have heard people spotting a leopard at this place before and not any tiger from the visitors recently but have heard from the villagers that there are tigers in this area from the interesting stories they shared and photos of paw prints which they see very often.

Tadoba is a better place to spot tigers than Pacherla safari.

How safe are tents from wild animal perspective at Pachrela?

I guess they would allow you to pitch in tents but you need to talk to them on call prior booking the place. I'm sure they would very surely deny at the first shot but if you are good at convincing them, I'm sure they would get inclined to your words. :D

How safe is the place incase if you are the only family staying that night in the jungle camp?

The place is no doubt a safe one to stay and the staff is good. But, it is always advisable to do this in a group as it is amidst the forest.

Hi @rajashekar Just came back from the trip. Excellent place, young kids & teens will have more fun than small kids will. I have been to many jungle camps in and out of india, i felt the staff here is so helpful and supportive and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. we (family of 3 our son is a teen ager) stayed in cottage felt safe. To see the animals in safari we got to be lucky, we spotted some malabar squirrels, sambar deer, and variety of fox can't recollect the name. birds and butterflies are a treat. the whole area is green. we had a great trip. The route we took is pretty much what google suggested, the road are good. But pre-booking the cottage is must. while coming back we visited mahanandi temple as its just 30 km from the camp. Thanks!

karnool > orvakal > nandyal (NH 44 & 40)

@sagar Place is safe, and the staff make sure we stay safe & comfortable. Food is limited varieties but served fresh,, its homely and tasty. rest is up to us to take precautions and not step out in the unknown territory in dark. But yes, place is visited by mostly group of people/families rather than couples.

@Ranger Thank you.
