Road conditions from Ranchi to guwahati

Hi @ubhatta, Firstly, welcome to the India-drive club. The road trip which you have planned between Guwahati and Ranchi would be quite a hectic one and I would recommend you to take a halt during the night in between as you would be driving with your family and considering safety as the first priority.

The distance between the two points is ~1100 kms and most of it would be ghat section until you reach your first stop for a night halt.

Route recommended :

Day:1 (~450 kms)

Guwahati - Nalbari - Bongaigaon - Alipurduar (Take right) - Nagrakarta - Siliguri (Night stay)

Journey for this stretch would take your around 10 hours of drive time excluding breaks in between.

I would recommend you to stay at Siliguri for the night stay as it has a lot of stay options when compared to the other places and is also safer place when compared to staying in the next town in Bihar.

The road conditions in Assam are splendid and it starts to deteriorate once you enter West Bengal.

Day:2 (~600 kms)

Siliguri - Purnea - Bhagalpur - Deoghar - Ranchi

Journey between this stretch is the most stressful one and will consume a lot of time because of the bad road conditions throughout.

Your journey of 600 kms would consume about 15 hours of drive time and so I would recommend you to start as early as possible and cross Bihar at the earliest.

You are going to drive through one of the most stressful stretches India has got.

Hoping that this would help you, Happy journey and Drive safe.

Hello everyone. Just completed the Ranchi to Guwahati leg. Roads in between were bad esp Bihar and Assam . But enjoyed the trip. Only thing was d traffic discipline . Pathetic.

Thanks a lot for the update @ubhatta. I have heard, driving in Bihar have to be done very cautiously considering the road conditions and violation of traffic rules. Is that true?

Very true. Hardly any rules are followed. Plus some highways have potholes which can't be seen from far

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
