Lot of debates/discussions going on Hyderabad city speed limits.
Plenty of people got challans for driving above 40KMPH.

I read one of the tweet from an activist recently.
According to him.

Quote

60 kmph is the limit in the city & any reduction must be through a gazette & not circulars of the police.

Not sure about the accuracy on his tweet, but 40 KMPH is pretty unrealistic and tough on people.
In my opinion 60 KMPH is definitely ideal and +5KMPH buffer could help in keeping the city speeds in check.

According to Hyderabad traffic police.

Quote

As per the ORDER of Commissioner of Police Hyderabad, the SPEED LIMIT of all categories of vehicles is 40 kmph within GHMC limits.

The e-challan of ₹1035 will be automatically generated if the speed limit exceeds especially at the following traffic areas.

1. Kukatpally JNTU circle
2. Hi tech city X roads
3. Jubilee Hills Check post
4. Tank Bund
5. Suchitra junction

Confirmed by Hyderabad traffic commission in a tweet

Is it even ideal to drive under 40KMPH?
One should be able to maintain 35KMPH to avoid 40 KMPH challan.

  • Gowtham changed the title to Hyderabad city speed limit issues?

I personally feel the speed limits should be raised by 20kmph for both city limits and the ORR limits.. I have so far paid quite a lot of challans for over speeding out of which I felt a few of them were pretty unfair. Driving under 40kmph during midnights when there’s no traffic is a real test to our patience.. this should be raised to 60 kmph.

Why can’t such concentration of fines in violation be put on govt city buses and autos. We see them violate many rules all over the city in our every day life. Major issue is with their on road parking in spite of parking them in their respective stops due to which there is a lot of traffic jams caused. Pretty much feels unfair..

only 40 kmph  speed in whole city may cause traffic jams/ setting speed limits for a particular length of road is that the established speed limit should reflect the road safety risk to the road users while maitaining the ability of people to  get to their destination easily and faster.
