Last December me & my cousins went on a short trip to Thatipudi Reservoir, we heard good things about the place, so on a very good afternoon we started off. Lies on the borders of Vishakhapatnam & Viziangaram districts is Thatipudi Reservoir near Thatipudi  village, Gantyada Mandal, Vizianagaram District. The reservoir was constructed across Gosthani River during 1963-68  to provide drinking water to Visakhaptnam City.

The wide expanse of the river surrounded by hills makes for one amazing view at any time & it is a photographers delight. Thatipudi can be reached by two ways, one being through Vishakapatnam Dist & another being through Vizianagaram Dist.

As you Reach

Thatipudi(Vizag Route), You see the reservoir gate & spillway on your left after that you see an old building & a restaurant in the same compound.

Ways To Reach The Destination -

Vishakapatnam District Road -

Vishakhapatnam --> NAD Junction --> Pendurthi --> Kotthavalasa --> Srungavarapu Kota --> Bowdara(Take Right) --> Thatipudi Reservoir

^

It is the same route you take to Aruku from Vizag & this is a 2 lane state highway road going through small towns & villages, I'd choose this route only if I was near to the locations above mentioned.

Vizianagaram District Road -

Vishakhapatnam --> Madhurwada (Dr YSR ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium) --> Anandapuram (Avakai Restaurant) --> Thagarapuvalasa (Avanthi Engineering College) --> Y Junction (Take Left) --> Modavalasa (Raghu Engineering College) --> Vizianagaram --> Gantyada --> Thatipudi Reservoir

^ This is a National Highway road up till the Y Junction, from there it is a 2 lane state highway.

^ From Vizianagaram To Thatipudi, the road is very scenic  with green fields, cool weather & no traffic at all.

I Recommend Vizianagaram Road as this is a part National Highway, State Highway & a Scenic Village Route(from Vizianagaram to Thatipudi Via Gantyada) and less traffic.

Nearby Tourist Attractions -

Aruku, which is around 60 km and will take 1 hr 30 min to get there

Nice post!! And your car's color is really awesome!! Pictures are beautiful!!

Never heard of this place before!!

If we want to stay, are there any nearest good accommodations in thatipudi?

Haven't seen any hotels or lodges nearby but best Option is to stay in Vizianagaram (24 KM from Thatipudi) as there are many good hotels with reasonable prices.

Vytla Residency & SVN Lake Palace to name a few.

Been to this place, few years back.

Great information.

These pictures brought back my memories of the forgotten place.

Vizag is a beautiful city, many beautiful locations around the city.

Have fun in exploring and drive safe.
