Friends ,

Planning a ROAD TRIP to my NATIVE BHUBANESWAR on 22nd Sep 2021.

Last year (OCT-2020)  did a road trip from HYDERABAD TO BHUBANESWAR through BHADRACHALAM-MALKANGIRI-KORAPUT-RAYAGADA-BERHAMPUR . The entire travel story is in in the link below:

https://www.trifod.com/index.php?/topic/1483-hyderabad-to-bhubaneswarodisha-road-trip/&tab=comments#comment-14719

This time  I will follow VIJAYAWADA-RAJAHMUNDRY-VIZAG-BERHAMPUR (All through NH65 & NH-16). Plan to follow ROAD SIGN all through and STOP & ASK (If any doubt) rather than blindly following google map. I have heard from my friends who has done this stretch before that GOOGLE map sometime landed them on very bad stretches.

Plan to start HYDERABAD around 4 to 4:30 AM in the morning and make a halt in VIZAG  . I have booked HOTEL FAIRFIELD BY MARRIOTT , Which is exactly on the NH-16 . Plan to stay one more day in VIZAG to visit BORRA CAVEs & ARAKU VALLEY. So We will have 22nd Evening to see some places in VIZAG and 23rd Full day to visit whatever place we want to visit around VIZAG .  On 24th Morning We plan to start to Bhubaneswar.

My FRIEND TOYOTA ETIOS will accompany me for this travel. It has been 8 year long association with TOYOTA and My ETIOS is best for me through out this 8 year. The  annual servicing was done 1st week of September 2021. The new tyres (MRF ZLX) has already done 18000 km . So TYRE are in perfect shape & CAR BATTERY was replaced two years before in OCT 2019. So BATTERY should be fine as well. Overall MY ETIOS seems to be in perfect shape for this 1100km trip.

As per other threads 7 FOOD COURT & GARUDA FOOD COURT is in my mind for BREAKFAST & LUNCH  resp.

I will detail out all the necessary information about ROAD CONDITIONs , FOOD BREAKs , SITE VISITs in VIZAG & around VIZAG after finish of this trip. Any suggestion for places to visit in VIZAG CITY  (on 22nd Evening 5 PM till 10 PM ) and 23rd Sep around VIZAG CITY will be much appreciated. Also any  suggestion for good restaurants inside VIZAG CITY which we can try  will be appreciated as well.

Regards

As you are planning to roam around Vizag. After 5PM go to the light house near dolphin nose. After that you can visit Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple near port area. We locals call it as 'harbour konda gudi'. There are three places of worship over this hill (Church, Masjid and temple).

After that come back to RK beach (visit submarine and aircraft museums near RK beach) and enjoy your evening with some street food.

23rd Sep around VIZAG CITY

In the morning try to have breakfast near Venkatadri Vantillu at Siripuram Junction. You will get tasty South Indian breakfast over there. After that try to visit Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Simhachalam. From there reach Bojjanakonda Buddhist spot and then try to visit Yarada beach. As a localite I will prefer Yarada beach when compared to any other beaches in Vizag.

If you are interested you can visit Kailashagiri also by ropeway (if you haven't visited it before).

Hello Manju ,

Planning to return to Hyderabad from BHUBANESWAR on 28th Nov (SUNDAY) through same VISAKHAPATNAM, RAJMUNDRY AND VIJAYAWADA .

1. While going from BHUBANESWAR , Is there a way to by-pass VIZAG  and exactly where I need to take a diversion to by-pass VIZAG city ?

2. How is the road condition of VIZAG BY-PASS ? Is it good ?

Passing through VIZAG CITY in NH-16 is really very very tiring and it take almost  one and half hour to two hours .

Regards

Yes, there is an option to by-pass Vizag traffic. While returning from Bhuwaneswar, take diversion from NH16 at Anandapuram after tagarapuvalasa. Follow the route as below:

Tagarapuvalasa -> Anandapuram -> Sontyam -> Mudapaka -> Sabbavaram -> Anakapalli.

I ususally follow the same route while travelling to my home town 'Vizianagaram' to skip Vizag traffic.

Road construction is going on this route to make it four lane from two lane as it will become the main by pass for Vizag and in future it will be part of NH16. So, road will not be good at some stretches but for sure you can cross vizag in 1 hour. If you go through city it will take 2:00hrs to 2:30 hrs for sure.

I have gone though this route in last July. At that time a total of 10kms is not good. Remaining road condition id good. If you follow this route please update the present road conditions so that it will help people who want to by-pass Vizag.

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
