Friends,

Starting my return trip to Hyderabad from Bhubaneswar next week. It has been a long trip to my native Bhubaneswar from Oct 2020 till April 2021 .

While coming from Hyderabad to Bhubaneswar , I took BHADRACHALAM-MALKANGIRI-KORAPUT-BERHAMPUR route. I already put the details of that route in my earlier blog . This time I will return via our traditional route that is BHUBANEWAR-BERHAMPUR-PALASA-VIZAG-RAJMUNDRY-VIJAYAWADA. I heard that the stretch between RAJMUNDRY and VIJAYAWADA has improved a lot. I will try to capture detail pictures of these road conditions and post them here.

Plan to start around 5AM from BHUBANESWAR and do LUNCH at VIZAG and DINNER at VIJAYAWADA. Plan to reach HYDERABAD without any night break.

Any suggestion for very good food outlet option along VIZAG HIGHWAY (between BHUBANESWAR and VIZAG) and between VIZAG and VIJAYAWADA will be much appreciated.

Plan is to follow the highway ONLY ...as some feedback says that GOOGLE MAP some time ask to take left or right which may end up in some interior roads. So I have been suggested to follow only highway and whenever in doubt STOP and ASK .

Regards

As you wanted to reach Hyderabad without any breaks my suggession is not to enter VIZAG city as it will eat 1.30 hr more time. After you cross Gosthani river in Tagarpuvalasa, you can take diversion at Anadapuram. The best route to follow to skip VSP's traffic is:

Tagarapuvalasa -> Anandapuram -> Sontyam -> Sabbavaram -> Anakapalle.

Also, after Rajahmundry better to go through Dhavaleswaram and meet highway near Tanuku.

Rajahmundry -> Ravulapalem -> Tanuku. This will save you from the traffic conditions of Rajahmundry.

Dear Friends,

I returned to HYDERABAD from BHUBANESWAR on 2nd APRIL and while return I followed our traditional route BHUBANESWAR-BERHAMPUR-PALASA-SRIKAKULAM-VISAKHAPATNAM-RAJMUNDRY-VIJAYAWADA-HYDERABAD.

We started from BHUBANESWAR at 4:45 AM and reached HYDRRBAD at 1:30AM (around 21hr).  It was a 1100+ km drive with break for BREAKFAST,LUNCH,DINNER and couple of BIO breaks. I was the SOLO DRIVER in this trip and It was the longest drive in my life till date......😀😀. Honestly speaking by the time I hit HYDERABAD ORR around 12:45 AM , I was feeling very sleepy but mangage to pass through ORR stretch without much issues (Stopped for 10min in ORR and wash my face with cold water ...).

I followed NH-16 throughout without taking any by-pass at any point of time . This NH-16 did not disappoint at all . I would say in this entire 11000 km drive only 10km you will find patchy .Rest all are absolutely fine . It is all the way 4 LANE HIGHWAY till HYDERABAD.

BHUBANESWAR TO BERHAMPUR

It is all the way 4 lane with lots of road expansion work going on. However all the diversions are quite good and even you can pass those diversion with 60 to 80km/hr speed. As I started early in the morning I was cruising through these diversions. As I was staying in BHUBANESWAR from 5 months and used to drive in this stretch very frequently , I see the road expansion work going on full swing and slowly all the flyovers are opening up. Kindly refer the pictures below for the road condition between BHUBANESWAR TO BERHAMPUR.

We crossed BERHAMPUR by 7:30 AM and decided to have breakfast after crossing BERHAMPUR.

 BERHAMPUR VISAKHAPATNAM

It is all the way 4 lane and fantastic . The NH-16 took all the bypasses for the places like ICCHHPURAM,SOMPETA,PALASA . I was thinking that NH-16 passes through them but eventually it by-passes all of them .   In this stretch just before SRIKAKULAM BYPASS (around 30km before) and after SRIKAKULAM  30km with lots of road expansion work going on. Lots of FLYOVERs are being built.  However all the diversions are quite good and even you can pass those diversion with 60 km/hr speed.

After those 30km post SRIKAKULAM till VISAKHAPATNAM.....It is DRIVER PARADISE to drive ......Absolutely fantastic roads. Kindly refer the pictures below for the road condition between  BERHAMPUR to VISAKHAPATNAM.

The stretch between BERHAMPUR to VISAKHAPATNAM is around 270km and it took around 3hr 30mins to cover this stretch  with a break of around 20mins for the breakfast on a road side outlet. By 11:00 AM I was entering the VISKHAPATNAM CITY.

 VISAKHAPATNAM  TO  RAJMUNDRY

I covered the stretch between BHBANESWAR to VISAKHAPATNAM (around 420km) 6 hr and 15mins and I was quite happy that I may reach Hyderabad beforemid-night . However this VISKHAPATNAM city eat way lot of my time. As NH-16 passes though this city and I decided to follow NH-16 all the way , This is where I stuck. It took me 1hr 30mins to cross VIZAG city . Through out this 1hr 30min , there are lot of traffic signals and I also found people drive very very rashly inside the city.

Honestly speaking I was neither aware of any bypass to VIZAG CITY nor the road condition on these by-pass route . Hence I followed NH-16 to pass though VIZAG CITY . My suggestion to everyone is that whoever travelling BHUBANESWAR though this route or after any place post VIZAG to BHUBANESWAR take the BY-PASS to VIZAG CITY if the bypass road condition is good .

We cross the VIZAG CITY around 12:30 PM and decided to cover some more distance before LUNCH. Once I cross VISAKHAPATNAM CITY , the road till RAJMUNDRY is fantastic and all the way 4 lane .  We had our lunch in AMALODBHAVI . A very nice MUL-CUISINNE AC RESTAURANT with lots of parking space available . Kindly refer the picture below for the ROAD CONDITION between VISAKHAPATNAM TO RAJ MUNDRY & the restaurant surrounding picture.

RAJMUNDRY  TO  VIJAYAWADA

I was little doubtful about this stretch as I heared some bad patches in this stretch . To my surprise it turns out to be very good as well. All the bad patches have been repaired and road condition is perfect . There is only around 500mm bad patch near to POLLAVARAM PROJECT .

Kindly refer the picture below for the ROAD CONDITION between RAJMUNDRY to VIJAYAWADA .

 VIJAYAWADA TO HYDERABAD

We reached VIJAYAWADA by around 7:30 PM and did not face any issue for CITY TRAFFIC . There are lots of FLYOVERs to cross VIJAYWADA CITY . Hence did not find much trouble . Only VIZAG CITY crossing was the bottleneck . By 8:00 PM we are out of VIJAYAWADA city and catch the HIGHWAY to HYDERABAD. Initial couple of kilometer after VIJAYAWADA were high traffic with lots of buses and trucks but thereafter the traffic reduced a lot and we could able to cruise to HYDERABAD with good speed.

We all know this route and how fantastic it is before couple of km of RAMOJI FILM CITY . We had our DINNER at 7 FOOD COURT after SURYAPET . A very nice one and of the best FOOD COURT in HIGHWAYs. We reached 7 FOOD COURT at 10:30. It was little late as some of the FOOD OUTLET were closing . However there were some like KFC, DOMINOS PIZZA and some other still open . We had PIZZA in DOMINOS and RICE BOWL from KFC.

Finally we hit the ORR by around 12:45 PM and reach home at 1:30PM. Being a SOLO DRIVER , I could able to cover this 1100 km in a single day , All thanks to good road conditions. However my honest feedback is to have a BREAK journey . While going to BHUBANESWAR from HYDERABAD better to have a night halt in VISAKHAPATNAM and while returning from BHUBANESWAR have a break at VIJAYAWADA . With a break it will be very very pleasant drive . Otherwise if there is two driver than absolutely fine to cover this 1100km in a single day.

Have a safe trip friends.....

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.
