Much Awaited facelifted version of very successful Hyundai's Grand i10 is launched in India Today 6th Feb, 2017. Direct competitors are Swift 2017, Ignis, Tiago and some other cars.

I got a chance to meet this car face to face today. Thanks to lakshmi hyundai madinguda showroom for that. So wanted to share few snaps taken & 1st impression of the updated grand i10.

Full pic of the car you can search in the internet. I will just post some pics which I thought small yet important aspects.

1) Front gets a big change here, along with new grill & bumper it gets dashing LED DRL housed in a dashing fog lamp housing akin to elantra 2017. It looks really amazing. Notice the new shade of red instead of red wine of the outgoing model, also watch out for the front air curtain just above the fog lamp..brilliant!!

2) New alloy wheels looks even more beautiful for already beautiful wheel. sadly no changes in tyre specs, same tyre looks tiny for a nice side profile. Alloy is bit darker shaded than of the outgoing model. Notice the plastic cladding is only on one side(back side in case of rear wheel) unlike front one which gets almost full cladding.

IMG_20170206_165416.jpg

3) Rear bumper gets a dual tone treatment & round shaped reflector instead of petal shaped one, which looks awesome.

IMG_20170206_165402.jpg

4) Feature removed..!!: No more request sensor on passenger side door handle unlike the current model. Sad Hyundai, it was really useful

IMG_20170206_165333.jpg

5) Changes in Interior: 7" Touchscreen with reverse camera & sensor, Auto AC, Voice recognition. In pic, touch-screen, auto AC display can be seen. Notice the small voice recognition button just below the red colour call button. Display of the touchscreen is good, you can see how readable & bright the display is, even if sunlight had directly fallen on the screen. Very sad that to see that no reach adjustment for the steering wheel in the updated version either.

IMG_20170206_170349.jpg

6) No Sun visor Mirror for Driver: No changes for driver side sun visor, no mirror.. Was expecting at least, driver side mirror with beauty lamp on the both side. Come on Hyundai, how much you managed to save by not adding these little yet significant things? Notice the handrail, no spring type hand-rail which could have been better. Why they forget these small things? God knows!

IMG_20170206_165625.jpg

IMG_20170206_165648.jpg

7) Sorry seat belt does not come with height adjustment option either, which is really helpful.

IMG_20170206_165701.jpg

8) Oh no Hyundai, no more fixed headrest at the front while rear is adjustable, no its not cool..!!

IMG_20170206_165744.jpg

9) Front with LED DRL in action:

Overall, 1st impression is great. Hyundai had done brilliant job here. They have addressed almost all the missing goodies like auto AC, camera, DRL etc. But small things remain unchanged like no speed sensing door lock(I dint drive yet , sales executive told), no seat height adjustment option etc. But with DRL & new grill, car looks even more dashing for sure.

Under the hood grand gets a brand new 1.2 litre diesel engine which is surely a major update.

Thanks

Awesome report, Thank you for sharing.

No major changes in the design department, looks very similar to out going model.

1.2 Diesel engine looks promising, even 1.1 is pretty quick which was perfect car for city driving.
Did you get a chance to test drive?

Competing with 2017 swift is going to be a tough challenge, new swift  is a looker for sure.

Excellent review @Pralay . You've been really nice and crisp on the major changes in details and good images comparing it with the previous version. The biggest change in the line-up is the 1.2 L diesel engine which is peppy delivering about 75 bhp. They say 25 kmpl about the mileage but i frankly don't believe in Hyundai's figures in this case. Now, it is all set to take on the new Ignis. Thanks for sharing such a lovely report.

Awesome report... Yes swift is a looker for sure.. and I don't think ignis gonna give a tough competition. Ignis falls in the lower category.. it'll give a competition to the basic version of i10.

Beautiful and a crisp report @Pralay..  Grand i10 has always been competing with the Tiago, Micra, Pulse and now Ignis which falls under the same segment carrying 1.2 L petrol and 1.3 L engines. It has a good road presence which i haven't felt until it I have seen it on the road. Definite hit in the market. Let's wait for a couple of months and see what the sales figures talking.

Thanks all for the appreciation. [emoji4]

However personally I feel, Ignis is not at par with Grand in terms of quality. I have seen Ignis as well. Though it gets airbags as standard but overall plastic build quality is sub standard & feels very flimsy.[emoji21] Maruti Suzuki as a market leader should take such initiative to set a benchmark. Now a days almost every companies are giving airbags & ABS as standard due to upcoming Govt. regulation &  these two terms is very famous now a days as like DRL & other goodies which is great but most of the people think about only about Airbags & ABS when the term "saftey" comes, nothing else. They forget most important thing about safety is build quality or rigidity. For instance plastic quality of lower half of B pillar(from the inside). Press it & it will bent like a cheap plastic, whereas plastic quality level is good in dashboard or the area which are easily identifiable!! This clearly shows the tricks they use for little profit by compromising build quality. [emoji34] Another area is side wall lower half of center console(where drivers left knee will brush against the wall), same story. People never see these areas, rather they can easily see the dash, door pad etc., so quality level is different here. unfortunate thing is it is coming in nexa line up models as well, which are supposed to be "premium", whereas plastic quality department of Hyundai is much better. Plz dont think i am against maruti suzuki cars, their cars are great & i love suzuki cars, probably that’s why I am expecting these from them, after all they are market leader & having mass appeal and moreover it’s the question of our safety.

OWNER OF MARUTI SUZUKI CARS, DON’T MIND & TAKE IT SPORTINGLY PLEASE.

However its very sad & unfortunate, that updated grand i10 is getting only drivers airbag as standard as compare to the latest Suzuki & other models which is coming dual airbags & ABS as standard which is great. Why should one need to pay extra for safety? Why? [emoji35] I strongly believe that major safety parameters should be standard in India like other countries.

Please take this comment as SPORTINGLY & we can discuss on this, share our experience. Awareness is the only key I guess & this is the right platform for that.

Thanks

:D

Thats true. But touch wood I am getting nearly 15-16 in city & nearly 19 in highway(with 100% AC in summer), which are pretty close to the claim figure.!!:)

Maruti has no intention to improve build quality. All their cars rattle after a year usage.

Structural strength is poor in both Maruti and Hyundai. Hope they will improve with time

Hey guys, I haven't had my hands on the new ignis but have used the new baleno and s-cross from the nexa quite extensively. Be it the bad plastics as discussed earlier about the suzuki cars or the vehicle dynamics are concerned, I have felt that the nexa cars have been carrying a fairly premium package in every aspect including the servicing unlike the regular maruthi suzuki products.
And if we look at the upcoming swift, I can quite confidently predict that even swift will be launched under Nexa to put it closer to its premium competitors i20 and Polo.

After all we are Indians and Indians blind love towards Maruthi will never fade. I just wish this mindset would change in the next generations. Safety and premiumness should be given more priority than the cheaper market cars.

Exactly my point@ujwal. Thats why I told I love Maruti cars as well. And as you rightly said dynamics are good in Maruti's recent models. But built quality is not that good. Hope they will rectify the issue soon. [emoji4]

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
