Hey Ruchir,

I would personally recommend Hampi as I've been to both the places.

Shimoga in specific doesn't have one such main attraction on spot but the places around Shimoga (100 to 150 kms in radii from shimoga) such as Jog falls, Murudeshwar, Kodachari peak and Gokarna in the Western ghat region can be the main attractions to visit for sure. And if you carry these places in your options, I would definitely recommend this road trip.

Bangalore to Hampi:

Usually there are two good routes to reach Hampi from Bangalore i.e; NH4 and NH7.

If you are starting your drive from Yeshwanthpur and around, suggested route would be to take the NH4 (Bangalore - Tumakuru - Hiriyur - Chitradurga - Hospet - Hampi) --> 350kms

If your start point is around Electronic city or Koramangala or Whiteflied, hitting the NH7 would be a better option (Bangalore - Ananthapur - Ballari - Hampi) --> 370 kms.

Both the routes take a drive time of about 7 hours with a breakfast break in between if you are start off in the early hours.

Hampi is definitely a photographers delight having lot of ruins of 15th century scattered over a huge area. The weather is usually hot and dry in Hampi almost throughout the year and you will definitely fall in need of a gearless two-wheeler to tour Hampi which can be rented. Bicycles (50 INR/ day) & Gearless mopeds (150-200 INR/day) A 2 days tour would be advisable do this.

Places to Visit:

1) Vittala Temple Complex

2) Underground Shiva Temple

3) Virupaksha Temple

4) Anegundi on the Tungabadra river

5) Hampi Bazar and many other ruins scattered around.

A detailed travelogue with some good pictures will be put up soon.

Hope you would find this gist helpful. Good luck and keep us updated :)

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
