Best car for long drives.

Great thread to discuss different issues of different cars!! :)

Okay if you take my opinion, most of the modern cars are good and all "affordable cars" maintain the same balance in respect of ride & handling for long drive & city drive. So there's very little difference in this regard,

As long as boot space & leg rooms are concern, obviously car with longer wheelbase will score more than a small car in this department. But again in long drive many other factors are there to look into. For Eg. Suppose one car is having great leg room & boot space may misses out in practicality like rear bottle holder, rear AC vent. etc. which can be crucial factors for some customers. Or lets say if it misses out safety points and has fragile body structure, no airbags, no ABS then car enthusiasts like us(India-Drive Members) will not choose that car ; rather personally I will choose "safe car" which may have some few liters of less boot space. I can live without that space.

So bottom line is it all depends upon the customer & his/her preference or choice. At the end of the day its the driver who drives the car not the car itself..!!

And on a lighter note, in most of the cases, everybody will tell his/her baby/girl-friend/wife is the best among all..!! :D(Hope you got the pun).

There is no best car. [emoji6]

Every car is different and everyone has different opinions/tastes.

It is all about your requirements and budget.

As far as my expiriences go...

1) I Own a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Best comfort in class, can accommodate four 6 foot guys easily...

Great boot space (510 litres)

Great mileage 20 kmpl and above on highways

High speed stability & breaking is questionable after 140

>140 is good

Definitely not a car for a performance enthusiasts who like to cruise over 150 on highways...

Very practical car in terms of cabin storage with lot of cubby holes and bottle holders

Leg room, best in class.

Most comfortable to drive with 4 people on board.

Recently did a 3500km drive with zero strain.

2) Skoda Rapid

From Hyderabad to Vizag

Did this trip few years ago (2014 I guess)

So impressions are based on old version of the Skoda rapid

A far better highway cruiser than my Ciaz.

High speed stability, breaking, handling, overtaking, power were exceptional but the suspension was very boucy..we could even feel the slightest patches on the road

Mileage was around 17-18 kmpl

Leg room was OK

Boot space around 450 litres

Rapid has a better insulated cabin than Ciaz.

This comcludes my expirience [emoji5]

I would vote for Renault Duster, great leg room, comfortable and has lovely boot space particularly if you have a kid n need to have him engaged. No strain while driving. Mileage is around 15-17 depending on how you are ripping on the highway. Can seat 5 people comfortable.

AC in Duster is a challenge in fan speed 1 n u need to run it in 2 until it cools down else the people in rear will sweat big time.

Loved driving the Duster on my trip to Goa n had almost a long break free journey last year.

Duster has one of the best suspension under 20 lakhs, ride quality and handling are excellent.
Indian roads are unpredictable, duster has capability to handle them.

Down side : Interiors are poor, god I hate those buttons. Even cars made in 90's has better quality.

For a roadtrippin enthusiast, it is an ideal car in the segment.

I agree the build quality is slightly down as well. But a driving fun to those who enjoy.
Reason for delicate Interiors- to keep the vehicle light n make it zoom comfortable at 130-140kmph

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
