Distance: 120 kms.
Road condition: Excellent (upto Zaheerabad)
You divert from the highway towards Chincholi forest reserve near the Mahindra factory exit.
The road is a single lane road and through the farms.

We started from Miyapur around 7 AM in 3 cars. Packed all the food and water.

Note: Be sure to carry your shoes as there would be a short trek to reach the banks of the lake.
I will let the pictures do the talking.

Though it was a mud track beyond the gate, the drive was smooth and fun.

From behind the temple, there is a short path for a hike which will lead you to the first view of the reservoir

We had reached home by 2 PM to have lunch. Over all, It was a perfect day to enjoy an early morning drive and a hike to enjoy some scenic views close by Hyderabad.

Excellent post Tejub and Sagar.

How is the crowd? any other groups apart from you guys?
How difficult is the Gottam Gutta trek?
How much time does it take to go down and climb up?
How is the overall road condition?

We have visited this place during a Sunday and I was glad to not see much crowd at the place that day.. It was only us during that time..
The trek is hardly a 15 to 20 mins task down the hill, while the up hill takes about 30 mins including short breaks inbetween.

No major hiccups.. Road conditions were excellent.

  1. Is is doable on bike ? (The mud roads)
  2. How much time did you guys take to drive from BHEL till the Temple parking?
  3. Do we need any permits to enter the National Park?

Thank you

Rahul

Thank you Rahul, This place can surely be done on bikes until the parking spot. Entire route is pretty smooth.
It took us about 2 hours 15 mins to reach this place.
No permits are required. The entry gate of the Chincholi forest reserve was kept open during our visit.

Is this place swimmable? I mean crocodile free?.. looks amazing. Thanks for sharing the details

Not sure about the crocodiles but not advisable to take a dive into it as well.. Haven’t noticed anyone swimming or fishing as such during our visit..

gate opening and closing timings.

I got in around 6AM without any issues, no one was present at the gate.
I guess they close the gates during night times. Also it is not recommended to visit this place during late evening/night time.
Early morning is the best time to visit.
