Places to Visit

  • Laknavaram Lake
  • Ramappa Temple
  • Phakal Lake
  • 1000 Pillar temple (Warangal)
  • Warangal Fort (Laser Show)

Temperatures started to dip in the second week of August and we started planning for a monsoon drive. We heard about a place called Laknavaram Lake, which is close to Warangal and decided to visit in a single day and come back. We started in the morning around 7 AM from Hyderabad.

The road condition between Hyderabad to Bhuvanagiri was excellent as it was a newly laid 4-lane road with smooth tarmac and we lazily cruised at 120 km/hr. Once we crossed Bhuvanagiri, the road condition started to change as the 4-lane road merged into a 2-lane road. Bhuvanagiri to Hanamkonda road condition is good with some patches in between.

It took us around 2 hours 40 minutes to reach Hanamkonda from Hyderabad and the Laknavaram lake is around 80 kilometres from Hanamkonda.

The road condition is good, surrounded with greenery and hills. We had some good lunch at Telangana tourism Haritha hotel which is located just before Laknavaram Lake on the highway. It costed us 80/- per head for unlimited meals. After the lunch, we headed to Laknavaram lake taking a diversion towards the lake which is at a distance of 6 kilometres from the main road.

Once we reached the lake we parked the car at a designated parking lot and bought an entry ticket. The first view of the lake is breathtaking as it was surrounded between hills, lush green islands and a bridge. Lake is spread around 10,000 acres with a bridge which connects two Islands offering a scenic view. It is around 160 meters in length and is the main attraction.

There are rooms available on this island which can be booked in advance online. Boating facility is also available at the lake which includes both speed boats and normal boat rides. Due to the high waiting time, we decided to skip it for the next time. After spending 2 hours at the lake, we headed back to Warangal to visit the 1000 pillar temple and the Warangal fort.

Unfortunately we missed the Ramappa temple which is situated near the lake. Warangal fort has a Light show at 6:30 PM, which explains the history of Warangal. We stayed for the Light show and headed back to Hyderabad.

Can we do this in a single day given starting point is hyderabad

As varun said it is easy to do it in a single day.Try to start early in the morning.

Road is mostly single lane but it is decent.

You can find decent food joints till warangal. But once you cross Warangal there is only one AP tourism hotel just before Laknavaram.

Note : Warangal to Laknavaram Cheruvu is at a distance of 80 Kilometres. There is some other place called Laknavaram(village).

Laknavaram stay review(Vishal)

I stayed at Laknavaram in Dec 2017.
The island cottages were full so we booked the regular ones.
The rooms were clean and neat.
Food was ok kind of thing.

Plan to reach there early in the morning so that you can enjoy the sunrise and with absolutely no crowd. As time passes crowd will start pouring in and you'll not be able to enjoy your time there. Boating, Cycling and trekking are the only activities you can think of doing there.

Hi, Hyderabad to Warangal roads are good to go.. But, the temperatures are too hot this season to enjoy the bike ride. Try to stay at the harita huts on the banks of the laknavaram lake. It's worth the stay to spend a pleasant evening :)

Place is worth visiting.
But this is not an ideal season to visit.

Roads are good through out the drive.  It is a mix of 4-lane and 2-lane.
Plan Bogatha waterfalls and Laknavaram together.

Make sure you book stay(Laknavaram huts) well in advance.

It is busy during weekends.

Monsoon is the best time to visit.

Too many Speed Guns are at work from ORR to Hanamkonda. The speed limit is 80 kmph. If you cross that fine will be 1035Rs. As of now speed guns with police are there in both directions even on newly constructing road. so maintain you speeds under the limit.

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
