Hi,

I am planning to drive to Bhopal from Hyderabad with family. Has anyone traveled recently by road? Can we do it in one day, if we start at 5 am from Hyderabad ? How is the road condition from Hyderabad to Nagpur and from Nagpur to Bhopal.

Thanks

Abhishek

Hello Abhishek

I drive to Varanasi every year and familiar with the Hyderabad-Nagpur leg. Upto MH border is excellent and you can easily do this 300km in 3-4 hrs. From MH border to Nagpur is about 200km. This road is also 4 lane but there are diversions at a couple of places and a few horrible speed breakers. About 100 km before Nagpur there is a confusing crossroad (the only crossroad on the way) and you must take a left turn to Nagpur. Right turn will take you to Chandrapur.

You can expect to reach Nagpur in 7-8 hrs with one stop.

My info is about a year old though and I expect the road to have improved.

Will look forward to your experience.

Safe travels

Amit

Thanks a lot for sharing your inputs on the road conditions to Varanasi Amit. That road construction work around Nagpur has been happening for ages now and God knows when that would be finished. No doubt Hyderabad to Nagpur road is bliss.. Few kms beyond Nagpur is quite a mess

I would recommend you to stop by Sagar for a night halt..

the road conditions until Nagpur are great but between, Nagpur to seoni, there is a road construction work which will slow down your pace.. beyond that again, the roads are flawless again. Make sure u make an early start around 4 am from Hyderabad and before 6 am from Sagar the next day. Be sure to avoid night drives to avoid risk

do update us back on your trip once your done with it..

drive safe.. cheers

I you plan to go via Sagar then have a look at my post at

I came back this week, road are awesome. Take Nagpur bypass, google will help. There are two flyover under construction, one at Hinganghat and another 20KM before Nagpur, you will spend 10 - 15 min each at there. Hinganghat area have potholes but you can still maintain 80 - 100KM speed depending on your skills.

You can stay at Seoni, Narsignpur or Sagar, plenty of options.

While going via Seoni there is a diversion, read my post on how to work that out..

If you plan to go via Itarsi then I am not aware of that route.

I am preferring not to stay anywhere as we have an infant and due to the covid situation. If we start at 5am from Hyderabad, will it be possible to reach Bhopal by 6-7pm.

Very much doable..  It's only 852 KM.. Only problem is that you will have to cut across Nagpur.. See if you can go on Sunday or public holiday..

I did 1225 KM from Seoni to Bangalore in 17 hours last week..

I too am planning to travel to bhopal this week or next. Have some concerns,

1.) are there any concerns/restrictions due to Covid as would be crossing states.

2.) also you mention staying at sagar, which is kind of off route, woundnt staying in Nagpur make sense?

3.) Also if someone has idea about Nagpur-bhopal route via itarsi, map shows some contruction after betul

Thanks

All the routes till Nagpur are really good except for a few patches inbetween which are caused due to the recent rains.. Precisely around Bopapur I had come across these bad batches during my travel last week.

Food options are very limited.

Im not sure about the recent update on the route details between Nagpur and Bhopal. Would suggest you to follow google maps itself as this route doesn’t have any recent road closures..

Regarding stay, Inwoukd recommend you to stay in Sagar instead of Nagpur as you will reach Nagpur by Lunch if you are planning to start early in the morning from Hyderabad

Thanks for the reply.

I am particularly concerned about the route from Nagpur to Bhopal. Via Sagar map shows 200km extra than via itarsi.

If someone has some information on the Nagpur - bhopal route please advise. how much time should it take from Nagpur to bhopal. Also is late evening travel advisable on this route if i continue after Nagpur.

I travelled from Bangalore to Bhopal last weekend. Hyderabad to Nagpur roads are good, barring a few minor diversions and some patchwork for a few kms. Hyd - Nagpur will take around 7-8 hours and Nagpur - Bhopal will take 8 hrs, if you drive safely (b/w 80-100 km/hr). Nagpur to Betul roads are lovely, all four lane. After Betul, roads are wide for some time, but there is no demarcation. So you will encounter oncoming traffic. Be careful of drivers speeding on this stretch. Itarsi to Bhopal is the worst. 100 kms from Itarsi to Bhopal took me 2 hr 47 mins. Drive slow and have patience on this stretch. It is better to stay at Nagpur, if you do not want to drive in the night. I would not recommend night drive from Nagpur to Bhopal, especially after Betul. Since I had travelled from Bangalore, I stayed at Adilabad for the night. I started from Adilabad at 6 am and reached Bhopal by 5 pm.

That’s a great handful of information.. Thanks a lot for sharing.. If it were from Hyderabad.. Itarsi to Bhopal would be expected to finish on the same day itself which involves a lot of risk as you said..  Any other alternative routes to reach Bhopal from Nagpur?
Any notifies restaurant to stop by with families enroute this stretch?

HI All,

I did the Hyderabad to Bhopal on 10-Dec-2020 and return from Bhopal to Hyderabad on 27-Feb-2021. Below are the latest updates for people who want to go on this route. I did this trip in 16 hours at once strech with my Fiat Punto. started at 12:30PM(Afternoon) from Bhopal and reached Hyderabad by 3:00AM in the morning.

Route: Bhopal-Hoshangabad-Itarsi-Betul-Nagpur-Hyderabad.

Below are the updates based on 27-Feb-2021 from Bhopal to Hyderabad.

Bhopal to Hoshangabad: Roads have been fixed and its a good drive with a strech in the forest zone, Over all road is good and newly made

Hoshangabad to Itarsi: this road is patch with cracks and pot holes, can be done with a speed of 60-70KMPH(Road condition is below average to average.

Itarsi to Betul: 4 way highway work is still on, and most of the strech is already completed and roads have also been fixed recently, so this is a good road but full of turns and twists in the forest zone and ghat. this strech can be done at 7-80KMPH speed. Road condition is good (there will be minor diversions but overall its good)

Betul to Nagpur: Road is excellent and should be covered in max 3 hours (Just be careful with the shitty bikers on the way)

Nagpur to Hyderabad: Nagpur to Adilabad Road has been fixed to great extent and most of the pot holes are also covered with patches. flyover work at hinganghat is still on the route till Adilabad is overall good now with the patches done.  from Adilabad to Hyderabad its an excellent road and you can cover this distance in 4 to 4:30 hours.

Note: Do not use the Google Maps, just follow the sign boards on highway. I realized this is the best way to do this trip.

The forest zone route is good. But but I would suggest you maintain a speed of 60-80, Because of sharp turns and animals (especially Monkies). Overall the road is good in the forest zone.

Hello Wanderers ,

Any one have recently travel from Hyd to BPL via Itarsi ? I will be  travelling with my family in Baleno including my Infant kid and a 6 year daughter .

I have couple of questions so that I can plan my travel .

1.  Any COVID restriction through out the route ? especially in Nagpur , MH border , MP border , TS/AP border ? like epass , rtpcr report or vaccine proofs ?

2.  Any good source of food like hygiene resort between Adilabad to Nagpur ?

3. Lockdown restriction for certain time window ,  Eg: Travel allowed only between 6 AM to 1 PM like in HYD ?

By the way in 2018 I had travelled same route but in mid night and quite happy with my beast performance (Baleno) Single stretch Start time HYD (5 PM ) - Itarsi (4:15 AM)  Never forget in 2018 it was 74 KM bad patch between Adilabad to Hinganghat and Betul to Itarsi was not good too and truck crossings in jungle. and overall 1 :30 hrs break (45 min Adilabad , 30 min Nagpur , 15 min Betul )

Toll tax - 680 /-

Petrol : 3800 /- with some 150 Km petrol left in tank .

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
