Hyderabad To Kolkata Post UNLOCK 2.0

Hello everyone,

We [2 brothers, only 1 knows driving] are planning for a road trip from Hyderabad to Kolkata in the coming weekends. Hyundai i20 Sports.

This would our first long road trip crossing 2 complete states. We are a bit concerned about the road conditions, how safe & secure the entire stretch of road is, any points of concern, or to be noted?

We plan to go in 4-hour drive <> 1-hour rest and halt at nights at safe & secure places. Considering COVID19, we plan to rest in the vehicle.

We would be packing light food & snacks & water for the entire trip.

Requesting this humble community to advice on
1. Where would we reach with our 4:1 hour drive plan
2. Any safe & secure place to halt the night around that location
3. Any additional points of advice/caution

Regards,

Shyam

Hi @ShyamM, Since you are planning to do this trip in 4 days, I will share various halt points for your night stay.

Day -1

Hyderabad - Suryapet - Vijayawada. (Excellent road conditions) - 250 kms (4 - 5 hours drive time)

Day - 2

Vijayawada - Eluru - Rajahmundry - Annavaram - Vizag (Excellent Roadway) - 350 kms ( ~7 hours drive time)

Day - 3

Vizag - Srikakulam - Bhubaneshwar  (Beautiful Coastal drive) - 450 kms (9 - 10 hours drive time)

Day  - 4

Bhubaneshwar  - Balasore - Kolkatta (Not the best but avg roads) - 450 kms (9 - 10 hours drive time)

Please be sure to carry your state permits for 3 states (Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal)

Please do update us back in details about your roadtrip with some pictures. Drive Safe. Cheers!

Hello Sagar,

Really, really appreciate your efforts in planning out our road drive. However, we are thinking of 1 hour break after every 4 hour drive.

Considering this:

1. Where would we reach with our 4:1 hour drive plan
2. Any safe & secure place to halt the night around that location
3. Any additional points of advice/caution

Hi Shyam, I personally wouldn't recommend to stay back in the car for a night stay due to safety issues. I have suggested the above places for your night stays so that you would find really good stays compared to the other places in that circuit.

You can otherwise, Do it this way.

Day -1

Hyderabad to Vizag (Very commonly done)

Stop by for breakfast at Suryapet or Vijayawada (Depends on your start time)

Stop by for Lunch at Rajahmundry

Day -2

Vizag to Puri (you can stay in the beach side resorts or stays)

Stop by Srikakulam for Breakfast

Stop by Bramhapur for Lunch

Day - 3

Puri to Kolkatta

Stop by Bhubaneshwar for breakfast

Stop by Balasore for Lunch.

Hope this helps! Cheers
