My car insurance is about to expire in month of Novmeber. (Bajaj Allainz)

Googled "Bajaj Allianz car insurance renewal"
Filled all the details, spent around 15 mins.
Submitted > "Error you already have a insurance" ☹️

I have seen few adds of Digi and Acko insurance, while i was searching for Bajaj Allainze URL.
Decided to give it a try. Just to check the price.

Acko

  • Filled the details, they asked for mobile number, email and car number.
  • Website is very quick and user friendly.
  • Quote given is 11.8k for 4.5 lakhs IDV (maximum)
  • I am not comfortable with IDV. But the insurance price is pretty cheap. (previously, I paid 18k)

Started searching about ACKO insurance claim reviews.
Then I came across DIGIT car insurance.

DIGIT

  • Filled the required details
  • Website is better than ACKO, easy to use
  • Filled NCB details and Insurance expiry details.
  • Insurance quote given is 12k for 5 lakhs IDV.
  • Felt it is decent for my requirement.

Then I came across below details and took a plunge.

Following options are available in Digit

1. Engine and Gear-Box Protection Cover
₹ 1,060
Do you know that the cost of replacing your engine is approximately 40% of its cost? Now, in case an accident causes damages to your engine, it will be covered under your standard policy. However, if it’s a consequential damage, it won’t be covered!

For example, if your car is towed roughly or during floods you switch on your engine,
which causes damage to the engine or gearbox; this addon then comes to your rescue, covering for its repairs and replacements.

2. Breakdown Assistance (RSA)
₹ 204
When your car breaks down, we’ll be there to make sure you don’t have a break down!
This add-on provides 24x7 roadside assistance for your car up to 500 kms from the city.
This includes assistance in scenarios such as a flat battery or tyre and other minor repairs,
medical co-ordination, accommodation benefits, legal assistance, towing facilities, etc.

3. Passenger Cover
₹ 250
We hope this never happens, but if something happens to the person sitting with you in the car,

in an unforeseen accident this cover is a fall back. (1 lakh)

Always had flood damage fear for Civic (due to low GC).
Checked in all the options and final landing price is 14.7k inclusive of all the taxes and NCB.

Insurance will be active from the day of my current insurance expiry.

Fear about insurance claims from the new companies?
We have something called Insurance Ombudsman scheme.

Quote
The Insurance Ombudsman scheme was created by the Government of India for individual policyholders to have their complaints settled out of the courts system in a cost-effective, efficient and impartial way.

There are at present 17 Insurance Ombudsman in different locations and any person who has a grievance against an insurer, may himself or through his legal heirs, nominee or assignee, make a complaint in writing to the Insurance ombudsman within whose territorial jurisdiction the branch or office of the insurer complained against or the residential address or place of residence of the complainant is located.

When buying a new car, it is safe to with traditional insurance. For old cars which are not under loan scheme. I think we can try out these options.

RSA and Engine protection are key points. Is there any document which provides more information on engine protection?

Nice share @Ranger. I have faced the similar confusion last week while renewing my car insurance too. Digit and Acko have attracted me with their decent values when compared to the reputed insurance companies. But, I couldn't risk it and chose to end up with Oriental Insurance for which I was given a NCB of 45% and IDV of 7.7L.. Amount paid for the insurance was 20K.

Any first hand reviews on Acko or Digit insurances ?

Will go through the document once I get the policy in hand.

Couldn't find any reviews/rejection rate information.
But overall I felt they are decent enough for a 10 year old car with Engine and Gearbox coverage.

I ended up paying high premium 19615/- May 2019 for  IDV of 6.3L (Baleno petrol 2018). HDFC Ergo Brand name with unlimited claims (so far no claims this year).

Decent price.

Schemes wise, Acko and Digit showed up the best quotes when compared to the other insurance companies but, lack of reviews online made be step back and go for the reputed ones instead.

Also, I have a small query which I have noticed while choosing options amongst the insurers.

My 2018 IDV was renewed for 8.8 L and 2019 was renewed recently for 7.7L ~

While choosing for my renewal this year, I have noticed a few companies proposing an IDV value of 9.7 L and numbers greater than my IDV of 2018.

I have always known that the IDV value depreciates by year and this unusual scenario puts me to doubt. Please clarify..

Is IFFCO-TOKIO is a good insurance company for CAR ....They are offering ZERO-DEP even after SIX YEARs and that to a very attractive premium price.

I am looking to renew the insurance of our car HYUNDAI EON MAGNA (PETROL+LPG KIT) ....It is a 6 year old car and this will be the 7th Insurance ...I see HDFC ERGO without zero dep premium is 4980 excluding GST and IFFCO-TOKIO is 4381 excluding GST.

Only EDELWEISS & IFFCO-TOKIO are offering  ZERO-DEP policy. This price is from PolicyBazaar.com. Any suggestion ?

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
