According to locals and priest  here -

During the great vijayanagara ruler Sri Krishnadevaraya , Wanaparhy King visited the famous Sri Ranganayakaswamy temple located and Srirangam and desired to built a similar temple near by his place and Later, in his dream, Lord Vishnu said that his is located at a certain place in his own kingdom and will be shown to you by an eagle (garuda).

So, the next day the king followed the eagle and found the Lord Vishnu idol between Karapakala hills and Kothakota. He constructed this beautiful Ranganayaka Swamy temple close to the Ratna Pushkarini Lake and Lord instructed to build temple at a place where the Eagle disappears - thats how a temple has been constructed here and there is a huge water body where a reservoir is also built .

It took  35 years to complete the temple and its an architecture marvel - ideal for Bird Lovers and Nature Lovers for its serene and Peaceful atmosphere and Surroundings

Toilets are available near the temple and small shop where one can have some snacks or packed chips , cool drinks and water bottles are available.

I have seen few pre-wedding photo shoots from near by villagers happening at this place and this temple has also been shown in different telugu movies and few by SS Rajamouli too

Temple Timings:

The temple is open for the visitors from Morning 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Evening 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

-- We Started at 6:00 A: from Hyderabad - Except Crossing Shamshabad No traffic has been encountered and cool nice breezy weather added much to the Monday Morning Drive and we could reach the Temple by 9:30

Route was all straight like arrow and Turn towards Pebbair and From there around 11 kms inside we could reach the temple

Let the Pics do the talking

I had visited this temple during my 50th Birthday drive 5 years back. This temple is owned and managed by the family of Wanaparthy Maharaja. (Not under the Endowment department).

There is a painting museum with in the temple complex which has collection of Wanaparthy Maharaja family with rare golden  paintings. That is open only with recommendation.

Museum is in two levels and one floor is dedicated to Temple art and Gods other one is general paintings. Second one is covered under CCTV hence no photos. Some photos from museum

In the same trip, day one we had spent at Srisailam and Day -two, we had visited Kollapur - Madhava Swamy temple originally built by Srikrishna Devaraya now re-located at Kollapur due to Srisailam Dam, Surabhi Palace (Private property) and also visited Somasila and Jetprol before visiting Sri Rangapur in the last.

Now TS Tourism cottages are available at Somasila and Jetprole (two at each place).

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.

      Distance : 376 km
      Ride: Honda City
      Fuel : Petrol
      Mileage : 15 kmpl
Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night)

      Best Route 2016
      Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach

Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
