My Rajasthan trip was a long pending trip .. Have been planning it since ages with family  but everytime there were some hurdles.

Even this time there were major hurdles but decided not to care anymore and just go :).

Day1/2: Jaipur- Booked a single cozy room with terrace on airbnb. We took a two wheeler for travel within Jaipur. my 4 year old had good fun on the two wheeler..

In Jaipur we went to

  • Hawamahal (dirty)
  • Jantar Mantar (boring as we  have evolved a lot and most of the things failed to attract me logically)
  • Amber palace (beautiful)
  • City palace (duh!)
  • Nahargarh Fort (just a city view)
  • Jaigarh Fort (nice)
  • Local market/Bapu bazaar (awesome as per my wife as she just shopped and i walked around with kid)
  • Sheesh Mahal (nice )

Wow @ksa171983, There you go finally..! :D This post of yours really motivates me to finish up with my recent Rajasthan trip log too ;)

Next time when you visit Jaisalmer, You should not miss to visit Tanot (India-Pakistan) border and Longewala war museum. The drive to Tanot is beautiful and exciting as really good tarmac is laid to run your wheel through the desert land. You will need to have necessary permission to reach till the border fence of the country.

Well we did try but during that time we were not allowed due to the heavy bonding between the two good countries ...

Quick question to you guys.
Rajasthan worth a visit? Driving all the way from Hyderabad?

if u ask me then i would say no.. you can fly to Jaiselmer have fun with desert safari and camel ride (to bring out the kid in u ), the Tannot Mata temple (maintained by BSF) and then head back to hyd.

Unless you are into havelis and forts i would say chillax :)

Jaipur is dirty.

Pushkar is only for Brahma Temple.

Jodhpur - Mehrangarh fort and Jaswant thada are beautiful and mesmerizing but just one time visit i would say.

Udaipur- Lake pichola is good and sipping ur fav drink alongside is good but you can get that anywhere ..

Still driving from Hyd all the way to Rajasthan i would say not worth at all..

All the highways that I have driven around Rajasthan have been super good. And Rajasthan is a place of it's kind. Can be extremely liked by a few and boring to a lot. I would rather say it definitely a culture to be experienced :D

And if you ask me the worthiness of it's drive from Hyderabad, I would say YES because we surely don't drive to sight the places or touristy spots but to enjoy the drive towards any destination :)

Mahals and Forts in Jaipur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur are beautiful. Food is super pure and good.

Initially i did plan a road trip through gujarat and then jaiselmer/udaipur etc etc last Jaipur and return.. the return journey from jaipur to hyderabad mainly did not excite me at all plus would be too tiring .. too long i would say .. probably the thought of managing the kid throughout scared me as well :D ...
