Hyderabad to Bhavani Island and Suryalanka beach (Bapatla) Andhra Pradesh

image_1294.jpg

Distance:360 kilometers

Ride:Chevrolet Beat

Mileage:20 kmpl

Drive time:6 hours

Food joint En-route:Hotel 7 (Suryapet)

Hotel - Bhavani Island:~2000/- INR

Hotel - SuryaLanka:~2000/- INR

Regular Route: Hyderabad ---> Suryapet ---> Vijayawada ---> Guntur (take left from the highway before Guntur) ---> Bapatla ---> Suryalanka

Hyderabad to Suryalanka Beach best route (2017): Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Sattenepalle --> Guntur --> Ponnuru -->Suryalanka beach

Hyderabad to Piduguralla : 4-lane toll road

Piduguralla to Guntur : 2-lane average road

Guntur to Suryalanka beach : 2-lane, road condition is good.(new roads)

On this route you can completely avoid Vijayawada route, which is a mess now.

We were planning for the weekend getaway from Hyderabad and were so stuck to a thought of making it a beach visit. Having surfed online for the closest beaches around Hyderabad, we came to know about Suryalanka which is at a distance of over 350 kilometers from our start point.

Carrying no second thought, we had started our drive from Hyderabad on Friday around 5:00 a.m. We took a break at the hotel '7' on the Suryapet highway for breakfast and headed towards Vijayawada.

We took the longest route via Vijayawada (40 kms extra) instead of going via Nalgonda as the road condition between Hyderabad ---> Vijayawada ---> Guntur is excellent and one can cruise above 100 km/hr without any stress. Road till Guntur is an elevated four way track with absolutely no bumps or bad tarmac. We reached Vijayawada around 9:00 a.m and checked into AP tourism hotel on the Bhavani Island.

Bhavani Island is a river island spread over an area of 133 acres that offers a wonderful escape surrounded by mountains and a dam. We were provided with a dedicated parking space for our vehicle with security and were guided towards the boat, which took us to the island. The 15 minute boat ride to the island was free of cost as we had booked the room.

We got accommodated into a tree house which costed us around 2000/- INR per night. Rested for a while and headed out to explore the island which was calm, serene and isolated from the city noise.

This Island has an AP Tourism restaurant with room service which served us good food.

Sunday morning after breakfast we checked out of the hotel and headed towards the Suryalanka beach which is around 100 kilometers from Vijayawada.

Road between Vijayawada and Guntur is a 6-lane elevated track and absolutely flawless. We covered the distance in 30 minutes and took a left from Guntur towards Bapatla. Sigle lane road condition from Guntur to Bapatla is average with village traffic. As Bapatla is the only town close to the Suryalanka beach, we carried all the required things at Bapatla and headed towards Suryalanka which is around 10 kilometers from Bapatla.

We checked into the AP tourism resort which rests on the beach bank offering a splendid beach view. The hotel needs to be booked in advance as it runs on demand during the weekends. You can also find decent hotels in Bapatla, if you fail to book a stay at Suryalanka beach resort.

Gowtham, Its a two day visit. We have started in the morning from ibrahimpatnam (hyderabad) reached vijayawada, worshipped kanakadurga temple and moved to suryalanka from vijayawada. We have stayed for that night in bapatla in a lodge (as rooms were not available @ suryalanka).

Next day morning we have been to suryalanka beach and started off to hyd during evening time and reached home by 10 pm. Best part we dint feel tired because of the awesome roads.

Route: Hyd--> suryapet-->kodad-->vijaywada--> china kaakani-->kaza--> Join ponnoor road by taking left from the highway. Regards,

okay  Room availability is tough in Suryalanka. Specially during weekends most of the rooms are booked in advance. We can find decent lodges in Bapatla. How is the road condition between Vijayawada and Suryalanka?

Vijayawada to Suryalanka Beach routes

1) Prakasam barrage->mangalgiri--> Chennai Highway --> Ponnur --> Bapatla --> Suryalanka

2) Vijayawada Benz circle --> Chennai Highway --> Ponnur --> Bapatla --> Suryalanka (This one is better than via mangalgiri).

Needless to say about the Highway which is six way with 1 toll before we leave the highway and join Ponnur road. Road to Bapatla via Ponnur is decent with 2 lane.

We came across many villages. Total Toll from Hyderabad to Suryalanka is 400RS INR approximately which will be 800RS INR in two way.

Hi Santosh,

I am new to this forum.Your information is helpful.

I am planning to do Hyderabad to Suryalanka Beach during Dussehra Weekend.

Will book AP Tourism resort in advance.

Are they allowing cars on the beach now.I got to know that on Sunday they will block the beach entrance for the private vehicles.

Will try to share the pictures after the trip.:)

Karthik,

We have been to Suryalanka on Saturday morning and cars were allowed on to the beach. Infact I've captured pics on the seashore :P.

How ever we all know that it will be more crowded on Sundays, So there is a possibility for blocking private vehicles.

One Ground rule which I'd like to say is make it to the beach as early as possible. On saturday morning we have been to beach directly at 6 am and no one collected any fee for entrance and when we done the same at 11 am there is a guy who is collecting 30 rs for entrance into the beach. This guy could possibly block you from entering into the beach on sundays if it is crowded heavily.

So I can say if you make it early, no one will block you for anything, Given that morning time is the best time also. So plan accordingly.

Happy Journey.

Regards,

Santosh Reddy

Vehicles are not allowed during weekends and holidays.
Try to visit the place early in the morning around 5 AM
You can drive on beach. Please keep an eye on high/low tide times.

Road directly leads to the beach, you can find it easily once you reach the destination.

There is a hanuman temple @ponnur left side when you are traveling towards suryalanka. Its a popular temple in that area if any one wants to stop by.

Also there is one more place to visit near Jaggayyapeta. There is a temple on the bank of River Krishna.

The river water is very clean and the area  is calm, also looks so pristine for me. If any one has time visit this place. Its around 12 km from the highway. the road is single lane and no pot holes. Also, it has lot of greenery.

Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.
