Which route should I take?

There are multiple route to Shiridi.
Would suggest you take following route

Hyderabad > Zaheerabad > Naldurg > Tuljapur > Bhoom > Ahmednagar > Shiridi

Hyderabad to Naldurg is excellent 4-lane section

Naldurg to Ahmednagar is single lane

Ahmednagar to Shiridi is 4-lane section

Roads between Naldurg to Ahmednagar is not so great.
Plan to start very early in the morning. So that you can reach your destination by evening.
Since first section is 4-lane, you can cover good amount of distance early in the morning.

I do this trip at least once in a year and taken up most of the available routes in all these years. Now from past few years I am taking up following route:

Hyderabad -> Zaheerabad -> Solapur (Take Bypass) -> Mohol->Tembhurni (from here take right turn towards Karmala) -> Karmala -> Ahmednagar -> Ghodeygaon -> Shani Singnapur -> Shirdi

We start from Hyderabad (KPHB) around 4 AM and reach Shirdi by evening 6 PM. We stop at Shani Signapur for darshan while going and it takes around 1 hr in total, other than that almost 1.5 hours break for breakfast and lunch.

Road Conditions:

Hyderabad to Solapur: Out of ~290 KM's last 90 KM's towards Solapur is not in good shape

Solapur Bypass to Tembhurni: Excellent 4/6 lane road

Tembhurni to Karmala: Good roads

Karmala to Ahmed Nagar: Good roads

as advised even in previous thread, please start as early as you can.

Another Important Point: If you reach Shirdi by 6 PM then check-in to a Hotel, fresh-up and then go for Darshan around 08:30pm/9pm, trust me you don't need any special passes for darshan during this time, we do this all the times and come out of the temple within 30 mins after Darshan. Most buses reaches there early morning and that when it becomes crowded and takes hours to get darshan.

Hope this helps, update this thread once you are back from your trip.

As per the recent update we received, about 50 to 60 kms of work is still pending which is running at a very slow pace.

Do share your latest feedback on the recent road status of this road.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi all

Just came from shirdi, yesterday night. I have to say the stretch up to Tuljapur turn, was excelleNt barring few stretches from him nabad yo Tuljapur as construction of four lane is in full swing.

But after that the road conditions have to say below average as there are many potholes, and it will definitely drains ones energy like anything. This stretch is almost 140km which is just not alright.

On my way back decided to avoid this hence took bit of longer route via pune and it's just awesome. From solapur to humnabad the construction of 4 lane is in full swing and it's in patches and the service road ghat has been laid is above average. Ic one doesn't mind driving an addl. 140kms then I suggest to ho this route. As I don't see anywhere near future the stretch of Tuljapur to Shirdi will be a 4 lane forget that even a proper two lane highway (with enough room for vehicles to ply ). If the potholes are sorted then definitely one can enjoy this route.

Thank you for the update.
Road from Hyderabad to Goa and Shiridi are very complicated and messy.

Hi all,

Any idea about road condition of route from Tuljapur ---> Beed ----> Aurangabad ----> Shiridi?

Tuljapur to Beed is excellent ......You will enjoy like driving from Hyderbad to Bangalore..... After BEED ...around 20km is still good towards aurangabad where I used to take a left turn towards MIRI-PATHARDI to Shirdi.  Thereafter I am not sure how the road is up to AURANGABAD.

For sure avoid AURANGABAD to SHIRDI ...It will be nightmare....However the road construction is going on ..So we can expect this stretch to be perfect in coming years.

Hi All

  •  Naldurg  to   Tulzapur route is good.
  •  Tulzapur to solapur is Excellent
  •  Solapur to Akkalkot- many diversions and potholes
  •  Akkalkot to Gulbarga.. road is Excellent  did a detour and visited Ghangapur Sri kshetra
  •  Gulbarga to Hyderabad via Humnabad is awesome

-- While Going Stopped at GuruDeep Dhaba Before Basavakalyan  Near  By Engineering College

https://goo.gl/maps/LjbFkjZdAdkhbrXs7

Food is Good But Ambience is minimal as it is very popular for the students of the engineering college But Dhaba owner is very friendly.

Food Options are Very less to No for Sholapur - Akkalkot - Gulbarga route

Guest Chandra

This info is written on August 17th 2019.

We started to Shirdi from Hyderabad at night 8:30 from Kukatpally. There are multiple routes for going to Shirdi:

1) Hyderabad -> Naldurg -> Tuljapur -> Beed(you will take a bypass before going to Beed) -> Ahmednagar -> Shirdi

2) Hyderabad -> Naldurg -> Solapur -> Ahmednagar -> Shirdi

3) Hyderabad -> Naldurg -> Solapur -> Pune -> Shirdi ---------------- This route is long and adds another 200kms approx

We thought of taking the first route as everyone said it is safe with less traffic.

We doesn't want to experiment here, so took the first route. As everyone said, the road condition is excellent (you have speed-breakers at some places) till 20kms before to Omerga. Before 20kms the toll road ends and then immediately the worst road starts.

You can manage till Omerga but after that at night time finding the potholes in that road is too difficult.

From Omerga to Naldurg it is 40 kms. The road here is below average. Take right near Naldurg junction to Tuljapur which is 33kms.

The first 10kms and the last 10 kms from Naldurg to Tuljapur is excellent. The middle 13 kms is patchy road with speed breakers. I suggest you don't cross 60km/h speed there.

From Tuljapur we took a road to Beed which is 4lane road and is awesome. Till Tuljapur the road gets swapped between 2 lanes and single lane, please be careful as there will be no boards or indications that 2 lane or single lane road starts.

From Tuljapur to Beed you have a 4 Lane road and is awesome. Near to Beed, Google maps gives you a left diversion and you will get into a State Highway road to Ahmednagar. This road is the worst among the entire journey.

All Shirdi buses take this route and as the suspension system for buses is better than cars they travel at 80km/h speed.

But cars can go at 40km/h speed with too difficulty. Travelling 50kms at 40km/h speed is too hectic. After you cross the 50kms the road is good till Ahmednagar. From Ahmednagar to Shirdi it is 4 lane road and is 90% good. We reached Shirdi by 10:30 am.

Return Journey:

--------------------------------

On our way to Hyderabad, we were scared about that 50kms State Highway road as it gives you hectic,irritation in the driving.

We took the following road which is awesome. We started in the morning 7:30 Am from Shirdi.

1) Keep directions to Shirdi -> Ahmednagar. (State Highway 2 lane road but excellent)

2) Ahmednagar -> Beed (Excellent 4 lane road. ) Before approx 20kms to Beed, google maps tells you to take a right diversion on to a small road where it is too difficult for a car to fit. Please avoid this and go further 5 kms. You will find a flyover where you can take right diversion to Beed. From here also the road is awesome to Beed.

3) Keep directions in google maps from  Beed -> Tuljapur. (This road is excellent 4 lane road). Before 30kms to Tuljapur you have get into a state high road. Don't go to Solapur, as from solapur to Naldurg it is 90kms which is bad. You have to get down from the National Highway towards Tuljapur. The same thing repeats from here.

4) Go to Tuljapur -> Naldurg -> Omerga -> Sangareddy -> Hyderabad. We reached Patancheru by 6:00 pm and by Kukatpally it 7:00 pm. Which is exactly 12 hrs with 2hrs halt in the middle here and there. So in around 10hrs we reached Hyderabad in this route. The one which we took when going to Shirdi took around 14.5 hrs which is too much hectic. That too without a halt.

NOTE :

1) Please don't keep direct directions from Shirdi to Hyderabad. Follow the above process. Keep the directions step by step like

   a) Shirdi -> Ahmednagar

   b) Ahmednagar -> Beed

   c) Beed -> Tuljapur (Don't go to solapur)

   d) Tuljapur -> Naldurg (This road is bad for around 15 kms)

   e) Naldurg -> Hyderabad (First 40kms is bad towards Hyderabad and remaining is awesome)

2) FOLLOW THE FIRST NOTE POINT ROAD TOWARDS SHIRDI. DON'T GO AS PER GOOGLE MAPS. JUST KEEP THE DIRECTIONS LIKE:

    a) Hyderabad -> Naldurg

    b) Naldurg -> Tuljapur

    c) Tuljapur -> Beed (Go upto beed. Don't take any diversions at the middle)

    d) Beed -> Ahmednagar

    e) Ahmednagar -> Shirdi.

3) FOLLOW ABOVE BOTH ROUTES AND YOUR JOURNEY WILL BE AWESOME.THERE ARE SOME PLACES WHERE I CAN GO AT 160KM/H IN THESE ROUTES.

4) This is my personal suggestion. We went in a Sedan (Hyundai Verna) which is our new car. As the ground clearance for a sedan is less we have to get down to very low speed to avoid patchy and potholes on the road. Driving a compact SUV or full SUV will help much.

5) The traffic is too less on the roads, you will hardly find cars/buses on the roads.

6) Try to travel in the morning so that you can find speed breakers or patchy roads from Omerga -> Tuljapur easily.

7) Google maps helped us a lot in detecting a speed breaker. On the route map at some point of places, it has shown yellow patches or red marks indicating that the people are getting slowed down on the routes. And those yellow patches on the google maps route are the speed breakers and red patches are the roads where you have the worst road condition. This is super convenient to the drivers. Thanks to google.

All the best guys. Have a safe journey.

Dear Friends

I have taken this route on the 12th Jan 2020, started at 6:00 pm evening from Bolarum, went via JNTU, the road was good till Tembhurni and once we take right, till Karmala, its ok, but after this 169 Km stretch is very bad, it pulls off and tells on the car too. while return we did it on the 14th 2020 from Shirdi, started at 10:00 am and reached home at 10:00 pm. during the day the 169 Km stretch we were surprised to see how we traveled !!

Over all this is a better route than the other, as I had traveled on other roads in other trips. thanks to KAM for his post which attracted me to take this route.

About a distance of 45 KM approx before Sholapur there is a restaurant ( Sai Prasad NH 65) (https://goo.gl/maps/cURVrDQzwM5nBtHU8)you will get into single road at this point, you get good food excellent service, we tried their Jawari roti they use their own Jawari from their farm, so just imagine...... and on return we again stopped in the evening and they served hot onion pakodi and tea, the costing is also very cheap.

Thanks to every one for their inputs - and this is an update on the route

Hello JVK9999,

If you are planning to travel to Shirdi , Take a look at the below thread and you may try the route HYDERABAD-ZAHEERABAD-HUMNABAD-OMERGA-NALDURG-TULJAPUR-OSMANABAD-BEED-PATHARDI-AHEMADNAGAR-SHIRDI. This route will not disappoint you as compared to other routes. I am driving on this route regularly from 2018 and very happy about it .  It may not be 100% smooth road but for sure 80% of the road is excellent and than 10% is good and than 10% is average. Try this route.

I too recommend Sai Prasad just before Naldurg. Washrooms are clean , Outside sitting is available. Very good service . Tried Paneer Manchurian , it was awesome. Prices are very cheap if you see the quality of the food. Visited couple of days back only.

Guest Hyd to Shirdi on 01/15

Hello Friends,

I travelled to Shirdi by road from Hyderabad on 15th Jan, 2020 in my car. I took below road routes

Hyd to Omerga was excellent and no need of worry about road conditions

Omerga to Naldurg was not good, don't expect much smoothly

Naldurg to Tuljapur was pathetic, can't explain the condition

Tuljapur to Osmanabad was not bad from there taking BEED highway was rock like anything 6 lane road (3x3), you will enjoy the drive  on the road.

Out mistake was taking road to Pathardi from Beed highway, road was fine but from Pathardi, you will definitely write HELL spelling. From Pathardi to Shirdi was pathetic (via Miri).

so we found Shani Shignapur is on the way to shirdi through Miri, So we went Shani Shignapur first and then Shirdi.

My suggesting is below.

Have you captured any picture of these routes?

Naldurg to Tuljapur pathetic....Surprise ...I just did this in Jan last week during Nashik travel.... When you take Tuljapur exit from NH65 after Naldurg....the 1st 100 to 150 meter is pathetic....their after till Tiljapur road is good to very good though there are frequent speed breakers before 2 to 3 km to TULJAPUR..Even inside Tuljapur the road is very good (newly made). After Tuljapur till NH52 flyover...(It is only 2km) the road is very fine. Anyway I have captured all the pictures of these roads. I will upload in the thread "HYDERABAD TO SHIRDI RECENT ROUTE CONDITION".

From PATHARDI to till VAMBHORI via MIRI and TISGAON is HELL spelling......are you sure?

Yes before PATHARDI it becomes patchy and bad but that will be just 5 to 10 km and that to in patches and not the entire one. From TISGAON to MIRI till VAMBHORI the roads are newly laid and repaired and it is perfectly alright. I could even drove at 80 speed without any issue in my ETIOS SEDAN.

Anyway I will upload the pics in couple of days.....Than peoples will decide how bad OR good this stretch is.
NALDURG-TULJAPUR-OSMANABAD-BEED-PATHARDI-TOSGAON-MIRI-VAMBHORI- RAHORI ...till 30km before Shirdi...

Hi Saty, Would recommend you to take Hyderabad - Zaheerabad - Naldurg (Divert towards right after Naldurg)- Osmanabad - Jamkhed - Ahmednagar

All the roads are good except for about 20 kms before Naldurg you will pas through a road construction zone.

Update us back once you are done with your drive.

Safe Drives. Cheers!

Hyderabad -Zaheerabad -Humnabad -Basavakalyan- Omerga -Naldurg -Tuljapur -Osmanabad-Beed-Aurgangabad -Shiridi is the best route.

If you are planning to go via ahemednagar, then it is a bad decison.

If you want to go via this route

Hyderabad -> Zaheerabad -> Solapur (Take Bypass) -> Mohol->Tembhurni (from here take right turn towards Karmala) -> Karmala -> Ahmednagar -> Ghodeygaon -> Shani Singnapur -> Shirdi

Then it is just pathetic. Too worst and pathetic roads. Almost 270 km of broken roads which took almost 9 hours.

Hello Subbu ,

Completed the Shirdi Trip ? If yes which route you followed ?

Hyderabad -Zaheerabad -Humnabad -Basavakalyan- Omerga -Naldurg -Tuljapur -Osmanabad-Beed-Aurgangabad -Shiridi ?

From Beed to Aurangabad & from Aurangabad to Shirdi how is the road condition ?

Aurangabad to Shirdi was hell in 2019-2020 due to road repairing & road widening ? Is it completed now?

Any latest update on Hyderabad - Shirdi Route, road condition....

Hello Venkat ,

Till 2020, I always follow TULJAPUR-OSMANABAD-BEED-MIRI-PATHARDI-VAMBHORI route to Shirdi. Kindly refer my earlier blog in this thread. From HYDERABAD to TULJAPUR it should be very good with occasional patches just before Tuljapur. From TULJAPUR to OSMANABAD and BEED it is driver paradise where it is excellent 4 lane highway. I used to take a diversion from this excellent NH-52 towards MIRI & PATHARDI which is also used to be very good as well with occasional patches .

However If AURANGABAD to SHIRDI road work has been completed  then I prefer to do it HYDERDABAD-ZAHEERABAD-HUMNABAD-OMERGA-NALDURG-TULJAPUR-OSMANABAD-BEED-AURANGABAD-SHIRDI.  In this case from HYDERABD till TULJAPUR road is fine . From TULJAPUR to AURANGABAD it should  be excellent NH-52 and than from AURANAGABAD to SHIRDI (Should be fine if the road work has completed). Not sure if any of our friends have followed this route in recent times to Shirdi due to covid situation in MAHARASHTRA.

Drove from Shirdi to Hyderabad yesterday (Saturday). We took the following route.

Shirdi > Aurangabad (Samridhi Maha Marg) > Tuljapur (NH 52) > Naldurg / Solapur bypass(NH 652 - 2 Lane) > Hyderabad (NH 65)

Except for a few bad patches on NH 652 for 2 odd km and bridge construction at several places on NH 65, the roads were just too good. We started at 7.30 am from Shirdi after morning Darshan and we were back at our home in Kondapur by 6.30 pm despite never crossing 100 kmph speed (since it was a brand new 1 day old car).

Definitely recommend this route.

      Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise

      After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

      Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal.

      We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks.

      Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence.
