NAM express way review.

New 4-lane toll highway connecting Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Drive between to Narketpally to Ongole is bliss. Road quality is excellent.

 

Total Distance : ~240 Kilometers from Narketpally to Ongole (medarametla).

 

Current state: Almost completed, Work is pending near few bridges and villages.

 

NAM express improves the connectivity across different cities. 

 

1. Hyderabad to Chennai route:

Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Addanki --> Ongole --> Chennai

 

2. Hyderabad to Tirupati route:

Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Addanki --> Ongole--> Nellore -->Tirupati

 

3. Hyderabad to Pondicherry route:

Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Addanki --> Ongole --> Nellore--> Chennai--> Pondicherry

 

4. Hyderabad to Guntur route:

Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Sattenepalle --> Guntur

 

5. Hyderabad to Suryalanka Beach route:

Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Sattenepalle --> Guntur --> Ponnuru -->Suryalanka beach

 

6. Mumbai/Pune to Chennai route:

Mumbai --> Pune --> Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Addanki --> Ongole--> Nellore --> Chennai

 

7. Delhi to Chennai route:

Delhi --> Nagpur --> Hyderabad --> Narketpally --> Mirayalaguda --> Piduguralla ---> Addanki --> Ongole--> Nellore --> Chennai

 

Few issues on this route.

• No proper restaurants.
• Larges number of cattle and stray dogs on the roads.
• Curves are very sharp. Poor banking angles.
• Slow moving bikers on the fast lane.
• U-turns at blind curves.

 

How much time it will take from Narketpally to Ongole?

It took me around 3:30 hours to cover 240 Kilometers.

 

Fuel station from Narketpally to Ongole?

You can find good number of fuel stations every 30 kilometers, Make sure you carry cash.

Very few stations have card facility.

 

Best restaurants from Narketpally to Ongole?

1. Hotel Vivera before Narketpally. You can find it on google maps.

2. Tanguturu toll palza food court

Yes they have built a restaurant on the toll booth.

Restaurant sits on the first floor, middle of the road with beautiful view of the road and cars.

Some curves are too sharp. Go easy on curves. Spot the brake marks.

Over loaded vehicles. Common across India.

more than 95% completed. Bridges and village crossings are still pending. You will merge into single lane and will be back on to 4-lane.

Hardly 0.5 kilometre stretches. We did not face any issues, traffic is very less.

Driving by this road is really enjoyable...now everything is fine with the road you can easily cruise to120-130km/hr, Traffic will be less in this highway.

Problem with NAM expressway? it is not elevated highway. 

I can see plenty of cows and dogs on the road.
Curves are poorly laid. I had tough time negating a high speed curve. Poor banking angels.

Agree on it, traffic is less.
But near some villages we need to slow down a lot.

It has flaws but improved connectivity a lot.
People driving from Hyderabad to Chennai can completly avoid Vijayawada route.
Also people driving from Hyderabad to Tirupati can pick this route instead of Kurnool route.

@Gowtham Do you still suggest NAM over Kurnool highway while travelling to Tirumala from Hyderabad(Gachibowli)? Traveling this weekend.

@Gowtham I am travelling with my Family to Tirumala from Hyderabad(Gachibowli), Do you still suggest NAM expressway or via Kurnool highway. I find the Kurnool route is shorter and the time difference as per Gmaps is almost 2hrs lesser.

As, you are from Gachibowli, Kurnool highway is better.

Its just depends on your driving skills. If so, yes its absolutely safe. Just you have to take some extra care after you cross Kadapa, as it is a 2 lane highway going through forest.
