  1. Hyderabad to Hamsaladeevi Beach - A hidden Paradise After a long wait for the December trip, we kick started our vacation to the most beautiful Hamsaladeevi beach located in the Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. Usually many of them skip this place due to lack of accommodation, but you will find a decent stay in Vijayawada which is around 80 kms approximately from Hamsaladeevi. It is definitely worth travelling so far to see the beauty of this Sagara Sangamam, where river Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal. We started at an early hour from Hyderabad and reached Vijayawada by 10 AM and checked into the OYO hotel. There are no food joints available at Hamsaladeevi beach so we packed the lunch from the hotel and headed out. Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi drive took us 3 hours with some breaks. Hamsaladeevi village is 24 kms away from Avanigadda and we reached Hamsaladeevi by 3 PM. After a long drive from Hyderabad, there was an adrenaline rush gushing out to see this most beautiful place and couldn't wait to snap the sandy beach and the 'river-beach' meeting point. This point is 2 km away from the beach (From Hamsaladeevi village, beach is 4 kms) and we drove our car on the beach side shore to the port to see the confluence. Distance : 376 km Ride: Honda City Fuel : Petrol Mileage : 15 kmpl Hotel : OYO rooms (2000/- per night) Best Route 2016 Hyderabad --> Suryapet --> Vijayawada -->Pedapulipaka --> Madduru --> Thotlavalluru --> Nimmagadda --> Avanigadda --> Nagayalanka --> Chodavaram --> Hamsaladeevi Beach Note: Don't take any diversions from the mentioned route else you might end up between bad conditioned roads and longer distances as you pass
  2. Top restaurants on Hyderabad to Vijayawada highway which has decent parking and washrooms: 7 Food Court Raju Gari Thota Village Aharam Hotel Vivera N-Grill Palle Ruchulu Border restaurant Subbaiyya Gari hotel Tip: Suryapet has plenty of options. Usually it is an ideal stopover.
  3. I regularly commute on Hyderabad to Vijawayada highway, almost once in a month from the past 10 years. Hyderabad to Vijayawada distance :275 kilometers Year :2006 It is a single lane road, not enough to fit 3 vehicles at a time. It used take me 7 hours to travel from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. Blind curves. Highest accident ever occurred in the country. One of the busiest, mostly filled with trucks. Worst road condition, filled with unlimited potholes. Driving at night is a suicide.(zero visibility with those high beams) Some overtakes used to take me at least 15 minutes, Imagine 10 trucks trailing each other with no space between them, on a single lane! No proper hotels and washroom Worst fuel quality But I used to enjoy the drive, it is challenging and fun. Year :2017(after a decade) Now it has a 4-lane road, truck lay by lanes, emergency lanes and bridges across villages. It is taking me 4 hours from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. I am saving 3 hours. Many good hotels available, no issues with washrooms. Toll road, with road assistance and standby ambulance for safety. Continues patrol across the highway, last year a huge industrial truck was stuck on highway while taking u-turn. Patrol guys arrived within 15 minutes and took the situation under control. Hotels between Hyderabad to Vijayawada 1. Village Aharam : Malkapur First decent hotel on the highway 2. Highway 9 Restaurant : Nalgonda Good for break fast 3. Hotel Vivera : Nalgonda Recomended, If you are planning to diver towards Nalgonda. 4. Maa palle ruchulu : before suryapet Village style hotel, don't expect luxury. 5. Hotel 7 : suryapet Best in quality, very good washrooms. Recommended for families. 6. Numerous hotel in Suryapet. You get all types verities over here. 7. G-hotel : Suryapet 8.Once you cross Suryapet, you won't find any proper hotels, though you can find many road side dhabas. Please correct If i miss anything. Fuel stations You can find then in every 20 kilometers radius. Tolls It is a complete toll road, elevated 4-lane, on an average you pay around 1 rupee per kilometre, so it should be under 250/-
  4. Hyd-Dwaraka Thirumala-Vijayawada-Amaravathi-Suryalanka Beach-Hyd Total Distance Covered: 1012 KMS Vehicle: Nissan Micra Fuel: Petrol Mileage: 21+ kmpl with A/C all the time(2 Adults and 1 kid). No. of Days: 3 From Jan 25th to 27th 2021. Total Tolls: 823/- [Through Fastag 705/- + cash 118/- ] Route expedition Via Google Maps Carried Snacks, water can and other essentials to shorten our halts during the journey due to covid.... ** SINGLE HAND DRIVING Day 1: Route: Hyderabad- Vijayawada- Dwaraka Thirumala. Total distance covered on day 1 : 412 KMS Total Time: 7 hours 8 min with 2 breaks. Almost after an year planned for a short trip post Lockdown and all went well and a very much needed break. Started by 4:25 AM from Hyderabad and reached Dwaraka thirumala by 11:15 AM with 2 breaks. As usual roads are pleasant to drive until Vijayawada.. But the strech between Vijayawada(Gannavaram) and Eluru is still under construction with lots of diversions. After crossing Eluru via bypass, the roads are in very bad condition from Bhimadole to Dwaraka. Done with darshanam and spent an hour or so at the temple premises. Started from Dwaraka and halted at friends place in Eluru. Day 2: Started from Eluru at 5:10AM to Vijayawada kanaka durgamma temple and reached by 6:45AM.... 1 hr 36 min journey time. Covid rules are strict and darshanam done in 30 min. Free darshanam is not available via Hill... only through 100/- or 300/- tickets. For free darshanam, park the vehicle below the hill and through stairs you need to reach for darshanam which is free. Started towards Amaravathi(Amaralingeswara swamy temple) and opted to go through Guntur road rather than the Karakatta road was not in a good shape. Journey was 1 Hr 25 min and Roads are in good to drive After completing darshanam started towards Suryalanka beach via Guntur. It took 2 Hrs 45 min to reach the destination, roads after crossing Guntur are just average and full of patches...road traffic is not much but due the road condition it took long. Reached Suryalanka Haritha Resort and checked in by 1:28 PM ** If you are planning to stay in Suryalanka Haritha resort, make sure to book it in a week advance. During weekends the cost of the rooms are high and less on weekdays. Rooms are Good, I have took the AC standard room which costed me 2400+taxes. All the rooms including deluxe and started AC rooms are having the Beach view Cottages are constructed in 2 rows , front row are the Deluxe cottages and backside row are the Standard AC rooms. In standard AC rooms there are 2 rooms, one in Ground floor and other on the first floor. I opted for the 1st floor room for the beach view. Note: Rooms are allotted on First come first serve basis, so its better to arrive on time to get the best room(With all functionalities ). When it comes to Food options, only Haritha resort restaurant at suryalanka beach and for snacks we can go for the fried fishes along the roadside exactly opposite to the Haritha resort. @haritha restaurant, we can order the food to the room or you can have it in restaurant. Food is above average. Obviously, the price card different from the restaurant menu... so a bit high prices for the room service. Breakfast is complementary and available from 8 AM to 9:30 AM which is of good taste and 3 verities of items( Idli, Bonda, Pongal) FYI... Below are the price details for reference: Beach Pics: Maintenance of beach is not bad Beach closes by 4PM, and police person starts asking everyone to leave the beach after 4PM.. but what we saw is most of them are in the beach until 6PM.. Nobody is listing to them. People staying in resort can visit the beach during the night as well, there are 2 entries from the beach and its an advantage. Sunset: Resort Pics: Day-3 Sunrise : Started around 9AM from Suryalanka to HYD via Guntur-Sattenapalli road connecting 167A highway and it took us 8+ hours, with 3 breaks. As we are not in a rush to reach HYD so we were travelling at a speed of 60KMPH and the road condition is excellent until hyd from Piduguralla. Total Journey was a pleasant one and that too after a year and that too Post covid lockdown and a much needed one. Thank you to all the Forum members as well for their roadtrip's, from which I have took some tips and did this trip
  5. Exploring the country side of Andhra Pradesh With a long weekend around the corner, and the festive mood already setting in at the workplace, it was time to brainstorm about how best the long weekend can be utilized. So it was decided that we will be heading to konaseema (Rajahmundry, Amalapuram, Kakinada) to celebrate the festival of sankranti. A teaser of what you can expect in this post Our Drive Hyundai Creta 1.6 CRDi Route Hyderabad - Vijayawada - Eluru - Rajahmundry (Ravulapalem, Muramalla) - Kakinada (Yanam, Coringa, Adharipeta) The Numbers Total Distance : 475 kms (Hyd to RJY) Drive Time : 6hrs including breakfast pitstop of 30mins Mileage : 16 kmpl Stay : Rajamundry - Jetty Grand (Decent stay) Kakinada - R L Grand (Decent stay) Itinerary Day 1 : Start to Rajahmundry at 5 am at avoid the festive traffic enroute Vijayawada. Day 2 : The festival day, visit kodi pandems (Cock Fights) at Ravulapalem, covering yanam and Coringa National park and night stay at Kakinada. Day 3 : Drive along Uppada beach road to visit Adharipeta near by Kakinada and drive back to Hyderabad. Bags packed and hit the sack a little early than usual, woke up at 4 am and we were on course by 5 am. As it was major festival in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh , the whole of Hyderabad was on the move towards Andhra, and the traffic was evident on NH9, leading to Vijayawada. The evident festive traffic at an 8-lane toll gate around 5 a.m. A short pit-stop after we exited the toll Journey continued and we reached Vijayawada by 8:30 a.m skipping the customary pit-stop at 7 restaurant at Suryapet just to cross the early hour major highway traffic. The Vijayawada Highway was a breeze, covering chunk of the distance without any traffic We stopped by for breakfast in the city of Vijayawada and reached this small hotel at the behest of our fellow 'India-drive' member, Kashyap They severed only Idlys at this place and I must say, they were very delicious (Nothing out of the ordinary, but they had a different taste altogether) Having had a sumptuous breakfast, we drove on! Crossing eluru, on the smooth tarmac, we had to be very careful about the vagrant mongrels (we killed one on the way ) and the scurrying traffic. The drive from Vijayawada via Eluru until the outskirts of Rajamundry was uneventful and we have covered the distance in no time. The greenery on either sides of the highway indicated that we were getting close "Konaseema". The lush green fields amidst the coconut trees. We deviated off the highway onto a small kacha road leading into the fields for the customary photoshoot After a short photo break, we moved ahead towards Rajamundry to explore a bit driving down until the banks of the Godavari river After a pleasant evening on the river banks, we moved to our hotel to close down for the day Day :02 - We woke up to this beautiful sunrise throwing its rays to clear the thick fog on the green fields Our first destination was to experience the traditional festive activity 'Kodi pandhem' which is one native celebration of the locals on the occasion of Sankranthi festival Entry pass to the arena Few glimpses of the play arena On the outside, the festival is being celebrated amidst of this beautiful farmlands Few glimpses of the beautiful country side in 'Konaseema' We drove down towards Yanam which is enroute Kakinada from Muramalla Our next destination was 'Coringa' wild life sanctuary which was beautiful for an evening pleasant walk on the wooden ridges between the forest. At the end of the forest walk, there is a boat ride facility into the back waters Having had a tiring day, we retired for the day to check-in at Kakinada. Day : 03 - We checked out of our hotel to experience a beach side drive between Kakinada <---> Uppada <---> Adharipeta A beautiful ancient bridge on the sea coast at Adharipeta Had an amazing time at this place during the early hours as we waited for the sun to rise Overall, It has been one heck of an amazing drive towards the country side to experience something new apart from our daily routine urban life.. End of our trip and we drove back to Hyderabad
