  2. Hyderabad - Mysuru - Coorg - Murudeshwara - Goa(Palolem) - Hyderabad Total Distance Covered: 2097 KMS Vehicle: Nissan Micra Fuel: Petrol Mileage: 23+ kmpl with 60% of A/C all the time(2 Adults and 1 kid). No. of Days: 7 Days From Dec 22nd to 28th 2019. Total Tolls: 1030/- [Through Fastag 960+ cash 70] Route expedition Via Google Maps ** SINGLE HAND DRIVING Day 1: Route: Hyderabad(NH 44) - Bangalore- Mysuru. Total distance covered on day 1 : 729 KMS Total Time: 14 hours 27 min with 5 breaks. Christmas holidays.... planned the trip and very well executed with the support of my spouse and kid. Started at 3:30 Am on 22nd Dec from Hyderabad via NH 44.. It's a pleasure to drive through this route and it's my first-time visit to Bangalore. After entering into the Bangalore got confused with one of the exit at entered into the CV Raman road and got stuck in the traffic around 1 hour. Literally experienced the Bangalore traffic that too on SUNDAY My only suggestion to newbie visiting Bangalore or traveling through Bangalore, please take some time to explore the map deeply or ask anyone to go in the right direction. Road condition from Bangalore to Mysuru(Via NH 275) is Good with a good number of Speed bumps. So have an eye on these speed breakers. Reached Mysuru at 5:00 PM and checked into the hotel [Reliable service apartments], booked via booking.com After refreshing, visited Brindavan Gardens(KSR) and had dinner at Hotel Chirag Food court Dabha while returning back to Hotel. It was a long day by driving 729kms, but not challenging. Its a simple and straight road. Reliable service Apartments: Brindavan Gardens: Tiffin: Roadside hotel, As I had already crossed Kurnool in early hours. Lunch: Vattika vegetarian restaurant after crossing Bangalore on the way to Mysuru. Day 2: Mysuru Palace - Coorg Total distance covered on Day 2: 112 km Stay: OYO Home Luxe 23010 Opulent Stay(HomeStay) Checked out from hotel@9:30 AM, visited Mysuru Palace and started towards Coorg @12:45 PM via NH 275. Road condition is good but not great, From Kushalnagar took SH 91 towards Dubare Elephant camp-Excellent location - easily one can spend around 2 to 3+ hours in the Kaveri river. Due to the Holiday season, the queue for the Elephant camp was very huge, so avoided it and had fun with the family in the river itself and also done the Still water river rafting in it. In between, Mysuru roads were the cleanest and wide roads. Still water River rafting - 200/person. Time: 30 to 45 min Once we are done with the Elephant camp, started towards our stay at 6 pm which is in Coffee estate. As it was dark, it was very difficult for us to find the homestay as there are no street lights and its a ghat road. Oyo 23010 opulent stay(Berry trails Homestay) \\\\ Suggestion- Make sure to reach your homestay/Hotel before 6 PM in Coorg especially if you have booked in coffee estates. . ** I have avoided to stay Madikeri, as I want a pleasant place to stay on so choose HOMESTAY and it was an awesome stay for 2 days in between coffee estate and jungle. Day 3: Coorg sightseeing Total distance: 83 km Started at 10 AM from Homestay towards Madikeri, it's a ghat road and full of scenic views. It was a challenging road Visited Raja Seat, Abbey falls and fort as well...while returning we took the NH 275 as my kid was little worried by seeing the ghat roads which we have traveled in the morning and took the long way via Kushalnagar. Had lunch at Fish curry Rice Hotel and it was 3 pm. We still had time to roam, so again visited the Elephant camp and spent 2hrs and then checked into the homestay by 7 pm. Day 4 : Coorg – Mangalore – Murudeshwara – Goa(Palolem Beach) Total distance: 446 km Planned to start at 5 AM but due to the darkness started at 7 AM from Homestay. Madikeri was full of due.. the visibility was very low.. slowly crossed Madikeri and started towards Mangalore road and in between the scenes of the mountains were awful while getting down through ghat road. Stopped at Abhi falls – It's a small waterfall point but the scene opposite to the waterfalls was great, spent around 30min by viewing at mountains with some clicks. Pics Moved towards Mangalore road.. Its a 2 lane road but the road condition was too good until we reach near to Mangalore. Halted for tiffin @ Hotel New kamadhenu at Kodankeri place. I rate it 4/5. ** Before entering into the Mangalore we have crossed 2 toll plazas on NH 73. Time was running out due to the highway traffic on NH 66, decided not to halt until murudeshwar temple. Did the same and reached murudheshwar temple by 3 pm. Temple location, shiva Idol .. beach all were awesome… As there was no time for us to stay, we shortened our stay and moved towards Goa at 4 pm. From murudeshwar the road condition is Average, due to the heavy vehicle traffic avg speed was between 50 to 60 on NH 66 and most of the road is under construction. Finally entered Goa after 3 hours drive from murudeshwar, our tiredness got vanished by seeing the see view's . Not a single toll we encountered on NH 66 after crossing Mangalore until Palolem. Checked into the hotel @7:11 PM at Palolem. Hotel Name: Bay leaf resorts. We got refreshed in 15 min and moved towards beach. My kid and wife were very excited by seeing the environment over there. We roamed around Palolem beach for a while and had some roadside snacks. Dinner @ Baba's Little Italy restaurant. Reached room by 1:15 AM after having a nice relaxing time on the beach shack. Day 5: Palolem Siteseeing. Our day started a little earlier, by 6 AM we were on the beach and had some fun playing around. @9am booked a boat for 2000 rs, visited Monkey island, butterfly beach, honeymoon beach and also saw a lot of Dolphins As it was Amavasya, the water level on the Honeymoon beach was very high and boats were unable to drop us over there. **My suggestion to one is to have a pocket full of cash if you are in goa. In Goa, most of the ATMs either won't be working or no Cash boards. I had to wait in queue for an hour as there was only one ATM which was working. In the evening, we had visited the Omellete center which is located exactly at the main entrance of the Palolem beach. He has a wide variety of egg dishes and its fantastic. Must visit the place. (Added the stall Pic) After a beautiful sunset, we moved on to one of the beach shack and had a great dinner. We spent the time until midnight on the beach shore and moved to the room. Day 6: Palolem – Hubli - Raichur Total Distance: 483 KMS Total Time: 10 hrs 43 min We decided to start our day a little earlier and moved on to the beach.. We experienced the beautiful sunrise and played around. Started @10 AM from Palolem... As we all know petrol is cheaper compared to that of other places in India. Filled the petrol to Full Tank and checked the Air pressure as well, as it would be a long drive. As I was in south Goa and few locals also suggested me take the route of Raichur rather than going through choral ghats from north GOA. But, I can say it was a smooth drive until I have reached KADANKOPPA but after that its a Hell of the drive. The road is under construction a lot of diversions and road is not at all good. Reached Raichur by 9:50 PM, decided to halt there for a night and did the same. As I was not in a condition to drive more as it was 4 more hours for Hyderabad but due to the road condition decided not to drive more. **Please do avoid this Hubli-Raichur road. Day 7: Raichur – Hyderabad Total Distance: 207 KMS Total Time: 4 hrs 6 min Started at 5 AM from Raichur and road condition is very bad until you reach NH 44. Reached Home by 10:05 AM. Completed the Road-trip with full satisfaction and with lots of memories. Thank you to all the members in the INDIA-DRIVE forum for your valuable tips/suggestions which helped me to get this trip successful

  4. ** Pre covid Note: I already posted same content in my personal blog at that time, Now posting in Trifod, might be useful for someone. Summary: Hyderabad -> Mysore -> Coorg -> Srirangapatna -> Lepakshi -> Hyderabad As usual, I am not mentioning much about roads & routes, Since it is straightforward, Just I followed the maps. KMS: 1900 Car: Polo Diesel Members: 2 Adults Budget: Fuel + Toll : 10,000 Stay : 15,000 Food: 4000 Extra: 3000 Total: 32,000 Stay Details: Full Plan: Let's start with the planning I won't go anywhere in summer, not a fan of summer vacation, Because I strongly believe it is waste of time and money [in South], So we decided to for a road trip in June end. Searched for a lot of places, Finally decided to go for Coorg. June 23rd Hyderabad -> Bangalore We packed our bags and went to the office, Since we both are working it is not easy to get long leaves, So after finishing some work in the office we finished our lunch and hit the road around 1 PM We don't want our journey to be hectic, So we took a good amount of breaks. On day 1 we traveled 580 KM to reach Bangalore outskirt. Around 11.30 PM we reached the hotel, We are done with day 1. June 24th Bangalore -> Mysore We woke up a little early and started to Mysore. We did not take any breaks since it is just a 180 KM journey, By 11 AM we reached Mysore and check into the hotel. 1 PM We went to the Chamundi Hills and took some pics. 4 PM Went to visit Mysore palace [Day light visit] 7.30 PM Again went to the palace to witness the light show. Beautiful.. Don't miss it. June 25th Mysore -> Coorg We had breakfast in Mysore and started towards Palm Valley Resort, Coorg. This route is very scenic and beautiful. We took many breaks in the 90KM journey to take the pics, and it is worth it. 3 PM We reached the resort, there we opted for buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, So no need to think about food. We went out to visit the surrounding areas. In-resort itself we took some photos. After spending some beautiful time in nature, we went to the resort after sunset. Had the dinner and done with Day 3. June 26th Coorg -> Coorg 11 AM Visited Madikeri Fort. 1 PM Visited Raja's seat and surrounding areas. Toy Train. 4 PM Went to Abbey waterfalls, Since it is monsoon, Waterfall is full force and beautiful. Yeah tired, enough for the day. Went to the resort to check in. Heritage Resort, Coorg. The best I can say. No need to visit any place in Coorg, after staying in this resort. It has that much beauty. We are done with Day 4, Just all my energy restored after seeing the beauty of the resort. Went to bed after having dinner in the resort. June 27th Coorg -> Srirangapatna-> Lepakshi 7AM I know staying in this resort is a best moment, So we don't want to waste any time, We tried to explore the resort as much as possible. We are done with the resort, we check out it with a lot of memories. 11 AM Visited few places in Madikeri and moved for River rafting. 12 PM We reached river rafting and there we met a family from Hyderabad, So we combinedly hired a boat for rafting. 2 PM Visited Golden temple We are done with the Coorg job, Now decided to go for Srirangapatna. 5.30 PM Reached srirangapatna, Visited all Tippu's places, We hired a guide to show all place Since we are near to closing time. He showed the important places before they closed. We paid 300 for him. 7 PM After sunset we started towards Lepakshi, It is a really hectic journey, W reached the Harita hotel at midnight at 2 AM, We are done with Day 5. June 27th Lepakshi -> Hyderabad 11 AM Harita is just an average hotel, But we don't have any other options to stay there. So Morning we woke up a little late, After fresh up and having breakfast in Harita we went to visit Temple. It is totally empty, Hardly 5-6 tourists. 2 PM We are done with Lepakshi, we had lunch in the same town and started to Hyderabad. 11.30 PM Reached home safely, and we are done with the trip and Day 6. We visited very limited places in Coorg, which are near to my interest and taste. Of course, remaining places I will visit another time. That is all.
  5. Day 0 I had a hectic amount of route planning done for this trip. Bugged many a member in various fora/ FB for the optimal route to reach Mysore without getting stuck in the BLR traffic or the horrific car chases on the BLR-MYS NH275! I had below two options finalized, thanks to @Ranger and other enthusiasts’ inputs: Option1: Hyd-BLR on NH44, take NH75 at Hebbal get onto Tumkur road, take either NH48/NICE road to get to NH275 BLR-MYS with a 722 Km run ideally taking 12h 27m of drive time (per google maps) Option2: Hyd-BLR on NH44, turn right at Devanahalli to Doddaballapura, then to Neelamangala, join NH75 to Nelligere, then take 150A to Pandavapura and Mysore with a 747Km run ideally taking 12h 50m of drive time (per google maps)! I chose to give option2 a try which seems a slight stretch (distance/time) and will be a good experience to share upon return! Finally, with a fair amount of spirited driving, total distance actually covered is 742 Km with 11 ½ hrs of drive time – beats both the above estimates! ? Enjoy the drive as much as the destination Day1: Hyderabad to Mysuru Started at 4.15am from KPHB Colony. Found traffic even at that hour to our surprise – could be the airport crowd or others hitting the highway like us ahead of the holidays! ORR and BLR highway were super smooth, as usual. We had a tough time to keep under 100kmph on the ORR which is a real irritant so to say! It was great to watch the sun rise over the horizon signalling a bright day ahead! After a supposedly quick but ended up really long coffee break (thanks to the guy who killed some good 30 mins which seemed eternity to prepare coffee – looks like he needed some real good tea/coffee himself ?) and few random stops for quick photo shoots, nature appreciation and biting on some home brought/ bakery bought breakfast we continued non-stop till my ‘Badass’ longed for a ‘parents visit’ which I couldn’t help but oblige! Having paid for over speeding (@ ~ 100Kmph) during one of my last drives to BLR (☹), I was super cautious to drive between 80-100 Kmph after Chikballapur. Reached Nandi Upachar @ Devanahalli at 12:07pm for lunch break! After a good ~ 1hr lunch break and another tank-full we started to explore the new route and hit the road to Doddaballapura. This route is extremely good except for very few patches. It is either a 2 lane with divider at few places or without but in excellent condition and you can easily maintain 60-80 Kmph depending on the traffic conditions. We crossed Doddaballapura and then proceeded to Neelamangala on a beautiful and winding road with green fields and few good lakes/ponds in between. This route has hardly any traffic and we can maintain good speeds throughout. After Neelamangala, took NH75 (toll road) towards Nelligare. Was extremely surprised to see really looong queues at this toll plaza for the single ‘cash only’ lane while we, with the FastTag zipped past! I don’t know what else our govt needs to do to make our crowds invest in a simple thing like FastTag to save their and everybody else’s time & money! NH75 is super smooth dotted with many Udupi classy food joints, excellent roads with less traffic and no tension of speed guns and beautiful landscapes with coconut trees on both sides of the road providing great relief to the long drive! At Nelligere, we diverted to Pandavapura which again invited us with super smooth roads (except for very few bad patches – all amounting not more than 5Kms) with very scenic surroundings. I bet the whole long drive stress vanishes if we slowly drive along this stretch savouring the nature around us. Of course we should also keep an eye on few villages we cross along and their usual traffic which was not bothering at all! We were surprised how they could maintain so many lakes/ponds so neat and clean and we found boating facilities too at quite a few of them even in remote/ interior parts of the state when, despite major efforts and publicity, all most all of our lakes - in Hyderabad especially, are littered with garbage and plagued with water hyacinth – sad state of affairs here ☹ We could savour these perfect views enroute Pandavapura. Seeing us, we saw two other cars stopping by to saviour nature and click their favourite pics! We reached Mysore and checked in Hotel Dasprakash Paradise around 5PM ... … with a total drive time of 11 ½ hours and elapsed time of around 12.45 hrs from the start covering some 742 Kms. Returned some 12.6 Kmpl mileage with a fully loaded car carrying 5 members and some spirited driving! Quite happy with my choice of this route and I highly recommend it over the usual NH275 except during night drives as am not sure about the sparse traffic and winding roads and anyways one cannot enjoy the nature beauty at night. We quickly freshened up and visited Brindavan gardens for about 3 hrs. Few pics @ Brindavan gardens: We bid good-night to the moon, which surprisingly looked closer and brighter than we find in Hyderabad, returned to the hotel for dinner and called it a “good day” indeed ? (to be cont'd)
  6. Hi Am planning a drive to Mysore, Coorg and return via Shravanabelagola and Bangalore next week. I wanted to avoid NH275 BLR-Mysore route due to traffic/ delays. Is there any better/ faster option without going thru BLR traffic to reach Mysore? GMaps is showing NH275 option only and the NICE road/route is not shown. One alternate route I found from other threads is to take NH75 (BLR-Mangalore) till Belur cross and 150A to reach Mysore via Nagamangala/Pandavapura. Has anyone tried this route/ road conditions or any alternate route that you may suggest to avoid BLR traffic/ delays. I will update this thread post my journey thanks Maruthi
